Hi, guys. I see that you guys kicked it this weekend.
I've had quite a weekend. My cat got injured and I had to take her to the vet (she scratched her eye and had an ulcer), my dad was shot at back home and almost killed (he was unharmed but his car was totaled), and my marathon. Thankfully, I have running to keep me sane!
Mitch, congrats on your new PR!
Congrats to all our racers!

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Got my first 13.1 mile LR in today! My struggles last week were enough to help me remember to pace it better- 9:53 pace. So now that I know I can run the distance, everything else between now and April is just gravy, right?
I tried GU Chomps this time, and I don't know that I could chew those things while maintaining any sort of reasonable pace. The first one I didn't know if I was going to be able to manage to swallow at all, but I kind of got the hang of them as I went. Good thing I had water with me, though!

Wow, I'm glad your dad is okay! Sucks about the car, but at least that can be replaced.
I hope your kitty heals up soon

Thanks. We went back to the vet and the ulcer is healed. More antibiotics for two weeks just in case she gets an infection, a checkup and done.
You had an exciting weekend, Docket!
Glad your Dad is ok, where does he live, Florida?
I was going to mention my new shoes but it seems kinda "so what" after that!
PBs since age 60: 5k- 24:36, 10k - 47:17. Half Marathon- 1:42:41.

Stop the presses! I have a HM this weekend, so you guys don't throw me out!
Puerto Rico. I was born and raised there and unfortunately that is not uncommon there.

And yes, I want to see your shoe porn!
I got new shoes today too! I liked the Saucony Guide 6 and Brooks Ravenna 4. I bought the Saucony, but I'll probably end up getting the Brooks too in a few weeks (I have 2 pairs of shoes right now that are about done with their running life.
Here's the Saucony one's I bought:
These are the Brooks I want to get soon:
5 easy miles this morning, legs were a bit stiff to start, but loosened up nicely.
I need more shoes, I have about burned up my Ravenna 3's.
7 miles on my hilly route today. It's 100% chance of rain tomorrow, so wanted/needed to get a few more miles in. Tomorrow will be a rest day.
Jackie, nice color on the Brooks.
Mine are Adidas Vanquish 6, very comfortable and inexpensive. Seem neutral, with a stiffish sole so better for long runs than speedwork.
Bit of a slog in cold winds today, about 8 miles at easy pace with one steep hill.
Hoping for 200kms this month.
That purple is a bit bright for me!
Very nice shoe porn, thanks!
I ran 3 recovery miles yesterday and today I'm planning on 4-5 recovery miles.
Snickers - love love those Brooks Ravennas. I was looking for those in the periwinkle color.
2013 Goals:
5K: 25:00
10K: 52:00
Half: 2:00:00
Hey everyone, haven't posted in awhile.
