Lord of the Manor
Hi 4midables! Results for the week will be run tomorrow, and we still need posts from:
jon1331
ktsmitty21
lisa579
runningviolamom; and
slongbrake66.
And lisa579 and slongbrake66 are both at risk of getting tossed from the game if they don't post by tomorrow. Does anyone know what happened to them?
Here's the list of upcoming races for the 4midables:
March 9: jediegunnie26.2 is running the Chambersburg (PA) Half Marathon
March 10: irishguy is running Miles for Music
March 16: Zelanie will be running in a 10-mile race
April 14: Zelanie is running the Corvallis Half Marathon
April 21: jeslyn11 is running the Earth Day Challenge half marathon in gambier, OH (it's her half marathon debut!)
May 5: jediegunnie26.2 is running the Frederick (MD) Half Marathon, runnva is (might be) running the Flying Pig (Half) Marathon, Anonymous Guest and irishguy are both running the NJ Marathon, and I am running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon
If I could make a wish I think I'd pass
lisa579 and slongbrake66 were both dropped today because they had not posted miles for three consecutive weeks. Does anyone know what happened to them?
I don't think the BF's splitting up between RWOL, RA, and Facebook is helping with cohesion. There seems to be a lot more turnover in the teams than usual right now.

Bob, completely agree that the BF split has not helped. I find it pretty difficult to navigate between where everyone is (and do not even belong to the FB group). I have ended up doing most of my running talk with my 2012 in 2012 team even into the new year. When I signed up for the Miles Game I think I had to wait about 2-3 months to get on a team. Better bet people will stick around when that's the case!
Anyway, some updates for me. I may still run the half marathon at the Flying Pig, but the full marathon is unfortunately not happening. I wouldn't bother to travel for a half, but DH may still do the full in which case I"ll be there anyway. I can't shake the shin splints. Had x rays yesterday that confirmed I don't have stress fractures and now have PT prescription. Plan is to finding someone used to runners who can help analyze my gait to see if I'm doing somehting that's causing issues. I've been doing stretches/strengthening exercises for shins and that hasn't been enough to solve the problem.
Miles this week will be way low. Between shin pain, knee pain (from running while shins hurt) and illness, this week has not been good for running.
PRs: 5k (21:48); 10k (44:32); 10 mile (1:14:52)
Sorry to hear you're hurting, runnva. And thanks - your post reminded me to put the list of upcoming races into the top post. Good luck to jediegunnie26.2 in tomorrow's Chambersburg Half Marathon! And to Irishguy in Sunday's Miles for Music!
Miles for Music 20K went well, since my running partner and myself used it as a training run for the marathon we tried to stay within our pace the entire race, so we only ran 2:28:44, we were happy with that time, could have been faster. I actually stayed and did an additional 3 miles to get my miles in.
irishguy- Congrats on having the restraint to stay at the pace you were wanting! Glad the race went well.
Nice job, Irishguy. Glad you were able to stick with your plan!Pain free run this morning. That's my new goal - at least until June. Started PT this week and hopeful it will help. I've decided my primary problem is I'm not 20 anymore and haven't been for a long time. Luckily, running is the only area in my life where this is not a good thing.

Hi 4midables! My half last week went according to plan. 1:36:22 for an almost 4min PR. Tough hilly course and surprised I ran so well. Taking it easy this week with just easy runs before I start doing some hard training for Frederick May 5th. Keep at it on the miles gang!
PR's - 5K - 20:15 (2013) | 10K - 45:14 (2011) | 13.1 - 1:34:40 (2013) | 26.2 - 3:40:40 (2014)
Up Next:
???
Jedi- Nice PR on a tough course! Sounds like this is shaping up to be a good year for you!
Glad to see a lot of good running going on. And congrats to irishguy and jedigunnie26.2 on recent races.
On a housekeeping note, we lost runningviolamom due to three straight weeks of non-posting. I have no idea why she disappeared on us. Right now there's a shortage of new people signing up for the game, so she might not get replaced right away.
Another housekeeping note - there's been very little participation in the threads over at RWOL - it seems most people who are up for posting or discussing are here, which is fine by me. I will try to keep a thread open over there, for the 4midables who are not on RunningAhead.
My running is going okay, but I've got to get rid of some of the Winter weight gain if I want to do halfway decently in my May half. Feel free to send good vibrations for responsible nutrition choices.
Decided to run the All State Insurance New York HM this coming weekend (3.23).
Good luck!

Congrats everyone on another great week. Once again our team will have the most miles per runner. We might be outnumbered by Happy Feet, but we are still awesome. Of course it is all for fun.
4midable - 612.55 (19 total, 32.239473684211 average)
Happy Feet 655.43 - (23 total, 28.496956521739 average)
This week I am probably going to take a cutback this week and skip my Thursday run. I have my ortho follow up appointment on Friday, and I have been a bad boy. I am supposed to be running 3 days a week and 12 miles total. Last week I ran 5 days and 22 miles. I feel fine though.
Personal Bests:
800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)
Dan, maybe you're running the "equivalent" of that mileage since you're used to running?
Z, that is because I do it all wrong. If I ever get discipline and slow those 7:35 easy miles to 8:15, then I could probably move up to 30 miles to 40 miles. I hide my running log because I don't want to look like an idiot.
I am going sub-20 on April 6th with my wife and daughter watching. I can do tempo runs now at a 6:42 pace without much effort and I did half mile repeats at 2:59/3:06/3:06/3:03. My last set in December was 3:10/3:11/3:10/3:12. I didn't feel overmatched in any of my repeats this week. The ones I did in December felt like near death. It looks like the HM training I did might take about 30-40 seconds off my 20:25 PR.
