Lord of the Manor
Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm hoping to run 5.5 or so after work today. Looking at my peak mileage weeks for the year coming over the next six or seven weeks, on my way to an October 19th half marathon.
If I could make a wish I think I'd pass
Bob- Good luck on the miles!
My knee is 100% better and I'm aiming for a Nov. HM. I'm still planning to take it much easier with my training than I did last time. I've been holding at about 30 MPW while I start to add quality work. Once I can do that at this mileage, then I'll see about bumping it up. I'm pretty sure it was the high (for me) mileage that helped me in my last HM, but I'm sure it also contributed to my injury. So patience, I guess.
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Zelanie! There is no question in my mind, that more miles = better endurance for an event like the half marathon (and I'm sure that's true for the full marathon also). Until you're doing so many miles that you get yourself injured, and that's happened to lots of us.
Yeah, I think I increased too quickly in March, which left me injured after my first HM. So now I am trying to increase more slowly. But I still want more miles because I've seen the benefits too.
We still need posts from two runners: Kpeacock, and runningviolamom. Results will probably be run later today.

Good luck in the HM training Melanie. I am glad you knee is doing better now.

800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)
Thanks, Dan! Glad to see you're able to put in more miles these days too.
How is everyone?
I posted 0 for this week, battling Achilles Tendinitis, hope to run some next week , NYCM isn't going to wait for me..
Melanie, good luck with your HM training..
Bob, good luck with the miles..
Irishguy - Good luck on being healed soon from the tendonitis.
Melanie - Krystal, Misty, Warren, and John have suckered me into doing Route 66 HM in November. I am building my mileage up for that race. I am planning on peaking at about 38. I just build very slowly though.
Ohhh - good luck with the achilles tendon, Irishguy. Rest and heel drops worked for me. I hate to even say this, but I had to take seven weeks of rest for that (back in 2009, I think).
We still need posts from EatsFood, gottagitgoin, Kpeacock, and ktsmitty21. Please post!
Hey 4midables - we took first place this week! Thanks to the new ranking by average miles.
Nice running, team!
Well, go us! Here I was worried my mileage was down last week since I skipped my long run Sunday and ran a marathon Monday in its place. You guys didn't need those extra 20 miles!
The flip side - with a marathon on Monday and my next long run scheduled for Sunday, if all goes well I'll hit an all-time weekly mileage high in the 80s.

Yay! We won one.
Last week was a small mileage PR for me. This week should be another small mileage PR for me. I am looking at about 35 this week.
