I just finished Pride and Prejudice. I think she's quite skilled in her use of language and ability to deliver some really good turns of phrase. I think she developed the characters of Elizabeth, Darcy, and Mr. Collins quite well. As for the plot itself, it did not hold much interest for me.
Celebrated authors alternately praise and deride her.
What do others think of this novel and of Austen?

Same here. Or at least I didn't think it would, and thus haven't read it. So I've no opinion on Jane Austen or Pride and Prejudice...
But I have read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It was somewhat entertaining.
