AmiK, I agree with Cbus, transfer to the HM.  Sorry you are still going through this and sorry running no longer feels right.  It will get better!

Cbus, nice 9.  Enjoy the 4.

Nice running everyone, and nice biking Indi!

Have a lingering cough from being sick earlier this week, but ran 6 slow miles yesterday and Wed. My legs felt really fresh after taking a couple extra sick days off. Hoping for no lingering effects for the HM marathon on Sunday. Getting nervous!

Have to go back and read the last 3 pages that I missed...

Ami - I love sports - olympics, soccer, etc., but team / pro sports just aren't for me - I didn't grow up in a house where they were a thing I guess.

        Mdawg- good luck!

Me - its POURING here and I'm glad it is a SRD.  I got into a Soulcycle class with my friend L tonight, so I'm going to that, and then they called saying I got into 5 pm today too, so I'm taking two spin classes.

Nick, don't be nervous, visualize a positive outcome.

Both DW and I are avid watchers of both summer and winter Olympics, Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana, Giro d'Italia, and will also watch baseball, soccer or cricket on TV. She is the hockey fan, I am not! Our son runs but will only watch soccer, English Premier League, German Bundeslige,  French, Italian, Spanish, South American...any soccer.

For me, 8 miles over mostly rollings hills, nice cool weather, no dog abuse to report!

Spent last night at a very fancy hotel attached to the Rama Casino complex outside Orillia, Ontario. DW had comp. tickets for a Billy Idol concert (and comp. room)., Billy Idol is not to my musical taste so I had a glass of wine at a bar downstairs then went up to the room with a running magazine.  I am the boring one in the family as you may have guessed.

Simon - As long as you enjoyed yourself.

Amik - I feel for you.  I found that running fitness translates well into cycling.  If you decide you might try it, try it first to see if your injuries will even let you do it.  And be prepared to spend a little money for bike, shoes, pedals, spare tube and pump,  and definately use cycling shorts.

Nick - You will be good to go come race day.  Run the yuck out now.

Docket - OooH how I envy your mileage.  Injury has thrown the year down the tubes for me.

I guess I had better go ahead and reschedule the doctors appt.  I got .47 into a run today and I could feel the soleus getting progressively more tight and sore so I stopped before anything bad happened, walked back home, changed gear, and went for a 21 mile bike ride.  I am frustrated, but only mildly.  I am happy that I have tapped into an alternate means of fitness/endurance, but I really, really want to get out and run!

                Indi - smart move

NND - youre on the mend my friend. Sunday is all yours!

sprinkles - back to back spin sessions. I bet your "seat" is not your friend after that.

Simon - that actually sounds like fun to me as well.

CBus - good to see you in some consistent miles again

5.5 miles for me tonight. Early to mid 90's for temperature.

Officially making my goal 1:42 for Sunday, going to be low 60s and partly cloudy during the race. I will take that.

Indi - I assume that you feel no issues what so ever when on the bike? That just seems odd that your soleus flares up like that after feeling fine for days. Any chance it could be a tendon or something other than the muscle?

                  Simon - Thanks, positive thoughts!

Strider - thanks, sore throat not 100%, but crossing my fingers that it isn't affecting the running

Ami - I say ITBS sucks, it is amazing how many here have had issues with that

cmb - nice to see the running progress

Mdawg - have fun in FL, weren't you just there not too long ago?

Roll - good luck on the challenge

Docket - Still cloudy and rainy?

akalei - I don't know if I have had 'shooting' pains in my feet like that, but definitely have had weird pains that hurt enough were i was really concerned about a stress fracture. But, every time they would go away by the next day and I wouldn't feel the issue again for a week or two later. It was really strange. Last fall 2 days before my marathon that happened on an off day where It hurt too much to jog at all. I could feel the pain laying in bed, but the next morning I was fine and didn't have any issues during the race at all.

Sports - Grew up watching the Tigers and Red Wings, but more a college (Michigan) football and basketball fan. Also played/coached lacrosse until my oldest was born, really looking forward to the Big Ten Lacrosse conference.

Update on the house we have been trying to sell, we got a full price offer in less than a day after putting it up for sale... contingent on inspection/appraisal. 3 different realtors said the appraisal wouldn't be an issue, then it came in at almost $40,000 less than the offer price! So the deal fell through. We aren't sure if we should lower the price, or just see if the next person has better luck with the appraiser, or just wait until Fall for the recent sales (some of which were cash) to close so that the comps will be better. Hmmm...

Nick - You certainly could be correct, thats why I am going to see the doctor.  The stress which causes inflammation, etc is only achieved while running, which is obviously a greater stress than most activities.

If the weather cooperates, I may try to go about 40 to 50 on the bike tomorrow.

I feel like such an outsider at the moment not being able to run and having to concentrate on cycling.  Sorry for the irrelevent information.

Nick, still cloudy and windy but it stopped raining yesterday.  Hubby and I had to take shelter at an empty house's carport during our workout yesterday.  Sounded kinky.

Morning all! Still no running for me. Decided on one more day off today, and I think I'm going to try an easy run tomorrow. I haven't had any pain the last 3 days, and I jogged in place for 30 seconds this morning without issue. Here and there I've turned or moved funny that I could "feel" it, but no pain, if that makes sense. So I thought I'd put it to the donuts to see whether running tomorrow is an ok idea.

ami: agree on the half. I hope things get better for you ASAP!

Sprinkles: bless your poor butt today! Haha I did spin the other day and I'm still sore. Definitely need to invest in a pair of those padded shorts... Ha.

Rollcast/ Akalei - Actually I'm so used to spin that it doesn't bother me at all, plus in these classes you are out of the saddle probably 75% of the time- gym spin classes always left me saddle sore though.

Me - ran a 10 Mile race and PB'd !!! I was aiming for 1:24 and came in in 1:20. Very hilly course but weather was overcast and 55.  All went well - although had to "jockey" for position. No pun intended since we started the first 1/2 mile on a horse race track -lol.  I did have one guy pass me at mile 4, then after a while he spit to the side I was on like 3 ft ahead of me. I'm like..come on.....really????   Other than that- great race. I'm proud of being able to hold that pace.   The course today also ran by my bosses house  - he video taped me running past his house - click on my blog link below to see Smile
