RUNNING 2013 GOALS (not just races) (Read 305 times)

I find that if they are wirtten or posted and I can go back and review them that  I stay on track (pun intended) better. I hope you donuts will keep this going as well. I will start.

Maybe a mod or admin can sticky this.

    1) 30 + average per week until new cycle starts

    1.1) 1600 miles

    2) develop more sound cross training options

    3) Healthy, succesful training for first marathon

    4) PR in the half 1:45, 5K - under 21:00

    5) start a shoe company that doesnt change models/versions....EVER

    6) to the moon......and beyond

    PR's : HM 1:51:15  -  5K 21:27

    Smashy!!!

I'm sure I'll develop more goals as the year goes on, but here are the goals I have right now:

      1) avoid injury

      2) a sub-1:45 half-marathon

      3) a sub-1:40 half-marathon (not sure that's doable this year)

      4) buy shoes from Rollcast's company

      PRs: 21:35 (5K); 1:46:46 (HM); 4:30:46 (FM)

        Cbus, my first customer,

          From general to specific:

          a) RUN MORE!

          b) Stay healthy

b.1) Get through an entire marathon training cycle from start to finish without a running-related injury

b.2) Don't do anything stupid that would compromise (b) or (b.1).

          c) 3:30 Marathon

          d) 1:35 Half

          e) 2000 miles for the year (aspirational, see (a) and (b).  I'd be happy with 1750.

And, Roll, if you can reverse engineer the Mizuno Rider 13, I'd buy that in perpetuity.

              White Lightning

1 - Run 2000 miles.  This is going to be VERY challenging, that's an average of 5.5 per day for the year. YIKES!!!  But I figure 1500-1600 for two cycles, 8 months, then off cycle I need to average only 100-125 miles a month so if injury free, no reason why this can't be done

2 - Run two marathons, spring (already signed up) and fall.  Notice no time goals, just run to my maximum ability.  May be a bit short of sub-4 in spring but should be able to knock it out in fall.  All other races will be to support marathon training

3 - Drop to 165 pounds by February, 155 pounds by September (nice and slow) and 150 pounds for race day weight for fall marathon

4 - Begin trail running in June when the snow melts

5 - Eat a 100% processed free diet, i'm 85% now.  (i already bake my own breads, homemade pasta, jams, almond butter, breakfast cereals, yogurt, etc...  Working on things like cliff bars and recovery drinks right now)  Basically only eat foods with ingredients that your great grandma would recognize, minus the lard

                5.1 - Eat more fruit

6 - Yoga 4 days a week and be confident enough to go to a class instead of doing it all at home

7 - Date a girl who not only says yes to a date, that may be harder than the 2000 miles, but also understands the whole running thing

8 - Get out of a support shoe, if at all possible

                Play the Game Hard!

well thought out, good diet helps prevent injuries Josh

                    Gotta have challenges.  Smile
Currently I feel better about the 5k goal than the marathon goal (though I shouldn't)

                      1) Sub-1:43 half

                      2) BQ!

                      3) Hubby and I want to do a race together each month, even if we're not "racing" it per se.

                      4) Not sure I should say this on a running board, but I want to be more overall fit, not focusing solely on running.  I haven't lifted in forever and I hate it.

Good thinking on this, Rollcast!  Keeping me honest Smile

                          1) Run 2,000 kms or 1250 miles.

                          2) Sub 46 minute 10k.

                          3) Run my first marathon- BQ by 5 minutes.

Sly, if you can run 20 minutes for 5k you can easily break 1:35 in the half- more like 1:33.

                          Just sayin....
