I enjoyed watching this -- as Crystal remarked, the winners came in, in the 15s, and the first master came in in the 17s - just like you might expect in a high profile 5K. Except this was Western States, so they were measuring hours, not minutes.

The difference in ambient light between 2nd place (Krupicka) and 3rd place (Killian) is really something.
It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
Got to feel sorry for this girl. However, she posted the video herself and made a joke about it so hopefully she is okay... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ibtcWbxoXNU
Also the video I posted in the training thread of the Payton Jordan 5K I think is working better now.

Nice table. I'm pleasantly surprised that Blake, Bolt, and Powell actually made it out of their out national trials. That was a deep field.
Yeah - they had 4 under 10 in the final - but then, we had 5 under 10 in our final.

Saw this on letsrun -- an Olympic 1500 that wasn't a long jog leading up to a sprint -- 2000 Sydney men's -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUH0Hp_sv0w
Well, the second lap was slow - but the first, third, and fourth were moving along.

Watched this race again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKEOjWEzVGs
Amos ran a brilliantly successful execution of tactics and strength - drafted and kicked.
Simultaneously, Rudisha went out blazingly fast and led gate to wire, also dazzlingly successful.
I struggle to run 100m close to that pace. Rudisha is amazing. He was basically the pacemaker for the rest of the field and still crushed them all.
One of the writeups on that race said 7 PBs, 3 NRs, one world jr (Amos), and obviously the WR.
USATF race videos - we just watched men & women's 1500 prelims and the 400 heat#1 (has SRR):
