Uh oh... now what?
Rocky is also a lot flatter, isn't it? But I was thinking of SF One Day, a lot closer to home.
If you are referring to Rocky Raccoon being flatter than Bandera, almost anything
is flatter than Bandera. There are no major hills at Bandera, but there are very
few flat places and for some reason, Joe tends to send folks straight down the sides.

Weather can be interesting in January in Texas too.

Rocky ain't as flat as Dizzy or Skagit, either of which could be used to calibrate scientific instruments, but it's flatter than Javelina, with which you have some experience. SF One Day would be just about perfect for a last long run.
Looking forward to seeing you again in February!

Bob, Jess has run both SF One Day and Rocky. Serially, in fact... although she DNFed Rocky "just like me". You should ask her about that combo. She's in South Africa, but will return this week. SF1 is going to give you the distance and time-on-feet.
A good prep course for Rocky is/was Cajun Coyote, but it was CIM weekend and you have no time machine. Nor ability to split yourself into two people. I haven't run Bandera, but I have run out there. Gnarlier for sure. But everyone loves that race.
The Texas weather at the beginning of february, as you know, is about as dicey (in the figurative roll-the-dice sense) as January. Last year's Rocky Deluge was big fun.

2020
There was an upside to all this.
My old 27'' tube television that I've owned since 2000 has been dying at a faster rate, with color tints across the screen and such.
On Sunday morning, I took the $370 that would have gone to WS 100 registration had I been chosen in the lottery, and went to Best Buy. I am now the proud owner of an LG 32'' 1080p LCD television and a Samsung Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player. I would have preferred to have spent that money on the race, of course, but I can now spend my post-long-run weekend relaxation in style.
Funnily enough, I do not have cable or an antenna, so I do not pick up any television channels, and I do not watch any television shows. If not for watching movies once or twice a week, I would not even bother owning a television. I love me a good movie after a long run, though.
I considered watching my copy of Unbreakable: The Western States 100 on the HDTV first, just to rub my own face in the situation, but Casino Royale on Blu-ray won out.
Nobody leaves this place without singing the blues.

The built in Apps on this will get you Hulu, netflix, and other stuff - may not need cable anyhow
