list looks strong with more national runners than usual.
Who are your Women's and Men's favorites for the 50M
I really like Cassie Scallon as a runner - But since she dropped out this weekend at 20k of the 100k world championships with a re-occuring injury. I am not going to pick her (Even though I would love to see her kick some butt)
Local WI runner Zach Bitter has to be considered for top 3.
Local female Christine Crawford - Does not have the top end speed some of these ladies do - But she is a smart veteran who will run a good race and make top 5.
I will post my top 5 after I here what you have to say.
Long dead ... But my stench lingers !

Are you reading a list from RunRace?
Nice race Saturday.

Sean Meissner
David Riddle
Shaun Pope
Timothy Olson
Sandi Nypaver
Chris Rubesch - Fastie from Duluth
Glen Redpath
Karl Meltzer
All these names pop with a quick scan
Also - is this a technical course? Just got my fill of technical and hoping you tell me otherwise. Need to plan my shoe selection a bit better.
Moderate both in hills and technical - a 3/3 but in my opinion closer to the 2's in technical and lower 3's in hills. Scale is out of 5.
I would not be good at picking a top five as it would probably come from previous race statistics from ultrasignup. Should be a good race though with that level of talent and I am looking forward to seeing the leaders out there. My favorites are Zach B. and Christine C. -mostly because they are local, but I would agree with your top 3 pick for Zach even if he weren't.
Even in the "chase pack" I think there is going to be a lot more competition. I wouldn't be surprised that even if I manage to run an hour faster that I rank worse OA than last year... That said, knowing someone is in front or behind is always motivating over that last stretch of miles.

There is also Michael Arnstein, looks like he was pretty competitive at some races.
HD - the course is dirt/grass. About 80% single track (nordic loop is wide so not calling single track). Main technical spots are roots/golf ball sized rocks. Personally I think the rocks are the worst, I lots of ankle rolls when charging the downhills.

I want to do it because I want to do it. -Amelia Earhart
I'm rooting for my friend Sean (and also Cassie, because they's like peanut butter and honey), but my money would be on Shaun and Cassie.
This is really hard - David Riddle and Timothy Olson (WI Boy - Defected to CO) have been lighting the world on fire lately. Zach Bitter has the speed and hills to do a lot of damage. I consider them my top 3. Michael Arenstien has a lot of foot speed and Shaun Pope won last year.
I am thinking the hills are not big enough and altitude not high enough for Karl to take a top 5 spot.
I thought I saw David Riddel - If I had I would pick him to win. I moved Tim down to 3rd although he has been on a huge roll - But the ex-WI guy has gotten used to the CO Mountain rythm which is totally different than the Rythm of the Ice Age trail.
1. Zach Bitter
2. Michael Arnstein
3. Tim Olson
4. Shaun Pope
5. Chris Rubesch
Olson
Arnstein
Pope
Arnstein is a big question mark. He will either kill it or be awful. Of course, he usually does better at the shorter stuff. The long stuff needs smart fueling, and gnawing on a zucchini doesn't cut it.
Could just as well be - I do think Zach will go for it and win or fall out of top 5.
Zach has a short but impressive resume and he knows WI trails. The 2 Northface races and Fall 50 were great runs. His last 2 50ks were course records.

Tracy Hoeg won Mad City 50k ~ But has been injured most of the time since
Looks like http://ultrasignup.com/results_participant.aspx?fname=Denise&lname=Bourassa&age=0 Denise Bourassa is up with the top 3
I just do not recognize and / or want to take the time to look up all the women ...
Top 5 at Pb eating like that though...
