"The most common question from potential entrants is 'I do not know if I can do this' to which I usually answer, 'that's the whole point'.--Paul Charteris, Tarawera Ultramarathon RD.

Great report - turning off those salt tabs sounds like it was a smart move. I liked your listen to the body, not the mind ideas. Congratulations on the finish!

Speed my steps along your path, according to your will.

Great read Jay and congrats on your first 50!! Thanks for sharing!!

It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great. ~ Jimmy Dugan

            You'll ruin your knees!

Awesome!  Congrats and... freakin' ay on a very tough first 50!

                Man, that's a hella-tough first 50, way to go!!

Great report!  I completed my first 50-miler (American River 50 Mile Endurance Run) in March.  Wasn't nearly as challenging as your course, but I hear on trying to get out of your own head during the dark periods.  And I was lucky enough to have a pacer for the last 24 miles.

Excellent job.  I look forward to reading more reports from you.

                  (PS - I, too, said,"Never again!" am now looking at future 50 milers.  It's a sickness. )
