Based on some things that I have read in blogs, I see that Ian Sharman, Nick Clark, and Nick Pedatella will be slamming this year. Neal Gorman is rumored to be slamming again but he is not on the entrants list for Vermont. Also, I do not see an entrant list for Leadville. A competitive field should make it pretty fun to follow.
I want to do it because I want to do it. -Amelia Earhart
It will be awesome to watch. A friend of ours is also slammin', and another may do it as well.
On On
I saw that there is an application for $80 to get the Slammin SWAG.
Do ultra runners consider those that do the 4 races with out paying for the $80 SWAG slammers? Seems a little redundant to me that you have to pay for 4 races (none of them cheap) and then an additional $80 to have OFFICIAL recognition.

Some time ago (preCambrian?) Stan also listed the "stealth slammers"--I haven't seen mention of it for several years. It might still be on run100s.
Some other time ago (Cenozoic??) at a table where lies, dinner, and a beer or two were being shared we (six not totally abnormal looking people) listened to John Bandur talk of his plan to try the Grand Slam next year (1987). The idea of someone running all four of the available 100-milers in one year was in its infancy.
The silliness of affixing "official" continues as the list of 'Slams is now longer than the original list of hundred milers and, a not totally minor point--the original four hundreds are no longer used.
rgot
Might as well say his name. He came in 10th at Badwater so while he won't win, he's a damn fine runner. But the stache, oy.
There's a possibility I'll pace him at WS, which would be a blast.
I could, but if someone accidentally says it three times, bad things happen.

You do know that you're going to have to let that pornstache grow out a bit, right?

I can live with that. As long as he doesn't ask me to cut off the goatee.
Traci Falbo who just threw down just short of 139 miles at Freedom Park 24 (and is the past winner of some dumb marathon in Nashville), will be racing at Worlds and slamming. I'm so envious. So very, very envious.
She ran her first 100 shortly after Monkey '11 -- I ran mine the week before Monkey. Hers was faster than mine by about 2 minutes, as I recall.
Trail Monster
Hmmm, I 'met' Traci at Umstead in 2012. She had just won and was on the cot next to me puking and shaking and looking like death. If that's what it takes to win, I'm very glad I probably never will!

This year will be 100% better if I finish one race. That said, I am feeling really good and healthy. Prep racing starts in 2 weeks!
2020
I ran with Terry at SD 100 until I vomited my brains out. We were doing pretty well until that time. He had an afro and huge ass stache. I asked if he knew you and so we chatted about that for a few.
Funny too - we were descending into the hot valley area and these weekend warrior mtn bikers would force us to get off trail, pass us, then stop up ahead. Repeat. He finally yelled, " F***ing go. Just go - Make up your mind and get the F*** out of our way. F***...." They didn't bother us again.
