Ultimate iron man challenge: Runner takes on gruelling desert super marathon with board strapped to his back
https://twitter.com/BeachesRunner
For those who aren't big clickers and therefore don't get the "iron man" double entendre, it wasn't a random piece of wood or a snowboard... this is a dude who ran Marathon des Sables (a big stage race in the desert) with an ironing board on his back.
No shit.
'It's all about doing something extreme and taking pictures of yourself ironing in unusual locations.
Kalsarikännit
taking pictures of yourself ironing in unusual locations.
Wait. Is that what the kids are doing now? Planking, owling, Jolieing, ironing?
I'm too old for this shit.
I want to do it because I want to do it. -Amelia Earhart
I think I am board with the stunt running.
I don't recall anyone pressing you for your opinion.
MTA: Please don't get steamed by my snark.
Don't press too hard while running in the desert, can burn you.
I think this is really dumb. Now what's this jolieing you're talking about?
~Sara It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great. ~ Jimmy Dugan
Obviously the guy did this out of boardom
I knew something smalcolm didn't! And I'm old! I knew about jolieing.
I don't know about 'owling'.
I am scared to google it.
I do that when I see a mouse on the floor.
Imminent Catastrophe
I like this version a lot better:
"Able to function despite imminent catastrophe"
"To obtain the air that angels breathe you must come to Tahoe"--Mark Twain
"The most common question from potential entrants is 'I do not know if I can do this' to which I usually answer, 'that's the whole point'.--Paul Charteris, Tarawera Ultramarathon RD.
