Who what why where how when
realendurance.com has a decent race calendar.
There is one coming up in July (24) in Oregon (Mt. Hood) I'm thinking of doing
"Famous last words" ~Bhearn
Gumbee - I'm already thinking about next year. I think my coach would kill me if I tried for another 50 this year (and so would The Hub). I already emailed him (coach) info about PCTR's 12-hr and 24-hr loop from hell coming up in October. Ha! Without those, I have SOB 50k in July, McKenzie River 50k in September, and Desert High 50k in December. That'll about do me for the year.
Mt. Hood - Two of my buddies ran the first annual 100-miler this past year (one finished). Mt. Hood is an SOB. Have fun!
Thanks for the link. Will check it out.
Imminent Catastrophe
OK it's not West Coast but it's close.
"Able to function despite imminent catastrophe"
"To obtain the air that angels breathe you must come to Tahoe"--Mark Twain
"The most common question from potential entrants is 'I do not know if I can do this' to which I usually answer, 'that's the whole point'.--Paul Charteris, Tarawera Ultramarathon RD.
√ Javelina Jundred Jalloween 2015
Cruel Jewel 50 mile May 2016
Western States 100 June 2016
I'm not to up on Oregon ultras (other than Hagg lake) If they run the Autumn Leaves again (50k & 50m options), that is on a 5 mile loop course, very forgiving.
If you're willing to consider WA State?
Next year, consider White River 50m (in July) Talk about an SOB.
But, they offer an early start and since it is the National Trail (50m) championship, you get to see all of the ultra studs.
I'm thinking they may do the Lumberjack Endurance run (Port Gamble WA) in April again. I would recommend this. You can choose 50m, 100k, or 100m. Challenging 12.5 mile loop course, no big elevation.
There is also Mount Si (50k & 50m) and Rainier to Ruston (50k & 50m)
oh yeah, I did 100 in the Hood too. I heard the 50 mile race is on the "easier" part of the course
That's right. Sorry. Forgot. "Easier" part. Is there such a thing??
Perf - I can do inland from here. Heck, we gotta drive at least 4 hours one way for an ultra, so what's another 2+ to Tahoe?
Thanks for all the ideas. I knew I could count my peeps.
Heck, you guys should think about running SOB in Ashland, OR, sometime. Beautiful course. Close to sea level . . . .
You'll ruin your knees!
""...the truth that someday, you will go for your last run. But not today—today you got to run." - Matt Crownover (after Western States)

Shouldn't you be thinking about 100 milers for 2011???? " Don't forget about Miwok (100k) -- 53 weeks from tomorrow
"
Oh my! That first one's pricless! (wiping tears from my eyes)
Miwok - I'd have to get through the 50-miler PCTR puts on there first. If that doesn't kill me . . .
