New 48-hour women's World Record (Read 18 times)

24-hour World Record holder Patrycja Bereznowska (Poland) just broke Sumie Inagaki's 48-hour WR of 397 km, running 401 km (249.17 miles) at the Athens Ultramarathon Festival. Congratulations Patrycja! This was her first try at 48.

This was fun for me to track yesterday as my own first 48 is still very fresh in her mind. She got through the second night much better than I did.

    Some splits here.

In the past year Bereznowska has broken the 24-hour WR (first woman over 160 miles), set a new Spartathlon course record (first woman under 25 hours), and now broken the 48-hour WR as well (first woman over 400 km). Now that's what I call a good year.
