BermyHorse planks challenge – we talked about this ages ago on rwol and I decided to do it right now. I really need to do something for my core every day as I do nothing at the moment. Posting helps me just to do it. I am going to try to do a plank every day and time it. If I don’t post again you know I completely forgot about it and it was a fad. It can and will happen… but here’s today’s effort:

Standard plank on elbows: 1min 04 secs

Zorbs:  Hope you can get a good nap in.  I don't know how you do it on so little sleep.

CA:  Yay for the solo run!!  Its amazing how great it feels to run alone sometimes.  I always get the question, why do you like running so much.  I'm always caught off guard by this question but since having kids its become so clear.  I love running because it give me "ME" time.

Sorry for spotty personals.  Work is calling Sad

        Good Morning!

RR: 4-5 tonight in the dark.  It is usually my swim night but I really feel like running.

NRR: Super sad about my big bloated stomach and having no clothes that fit.  It has been like this for 4 months straight!  Acupuncture today.  That usually helps a little.  I thought I was making some headway on getting my cycle back the other day but turns out I think it was a false alarm : (  I got a + on my opk but then I heard it may have been effected by the meds I was taking and my temp didnt go up so I guess I have to assume I didnt O afterall.  : (  Boo.  I got so excited there for a day.

TR: He has been sleeping in!  It is awesome and annoying at the same time because I hate being late for work.  I think he needs to go to bed a smidge earlier.  I told dh this yet last night he was still telling jokes to him at 8:45 getting him all worked up.  I put him in his bed at 8!  Get with the program!

Mere: Hopefully you saw my post to you yesterday : )  I posted late.

Zorbs: Yowsers on the knife.  I am so not careful about stuff anymore since ds is sort of past the need to babyproof stage, but then every once in awhile he does something like that and I think I have gotten too relaxed.

Bermy: way to go on the speedwork!  Sorry about the awkward run in at the track.  At least you were running fast and surely looking awesome when it happened : )

Shelby: I also got very lucky with ds.  he was a one hit wonder!  I had hoped that meant it would be easy for me again but apparently that isnt true.  He was some sort of a miracle baby, I guess : )

        On to page 2. . .

Uphill:  ugh that terrifies me.  Did you get regular periods before DS?  Have you ever gotten them since you had him.  I am very regular. despite being on an IUD but I plan to get it taken out in a few months. We don't want to start trying until next fall but I would prefer to be off any BC long before then.

Spike:  I normally love VS bras, they are all I wear.  I used to be a 34C, then when I was pregnant I was a 34D.  Neither of those sizes seem right on me and it seems like I am always wearing them on the loosest setting so I ordered a 36C...wrong.  Cup size is not big enough and the band just doesn't fit right.  I just need to go into a store.

Bermy:  Thanks for the info to spike on what to eat.  I have been eating tons of pomegranates lately so maybe that will help with my PMS Smile

Bermy: YES plank challenge.  I will participate.

Shelby: I have never had regular periods.  They are all over the place from 24-90 days and I have polycystic ovaries.  I'm a mess.  They told me I would have a hard time getting pregnant but we were pg with ds without even trying so I had hoped it would turn out that I am not as big of a mess as they suggested.  It has been a year so far this time.  In that year, I have ovulated twice and gotten pregnant once, and miscarried.  It has been 3 months since my mc and have not gotten my cycle back.  Blech.

Uphill:  I am sorry, that sounds so tough.  I will be crossing my fingers  and saying a prayer for you!!!

Bermy: Yes to plank challenge. I was just talking to one of my partners/friend about strengthening  my core.  My back is getting sore from picking up the kids so much and he was adament about getting my core in shape. So planks it is!!  Do you just hold the plank pose as long as you can or do you do reps?

Uphill:  Yay for sleeping in! What time?  I can dream for that one day, right?    Were you diagnosed with PCOS?

spike - M loves to help clean out the dishwasher... it's faster to do it without her help obviously. I've only been called for jury duty once and when I got there to report they told me it was cancelled - I get paid by work for the day, so I went to the mall Smile fingers crossed on your house!!

Jen - going to fort myers.

                  eh - waves! Feel better!!

rocky - I was 'that' mom also, on the day of the first big snow taking M to her 'school' without snow boots... we bought some the next day.

jm - I agree, single parenting would be soooo hard!

uphill - I hope you feel better after the acupuncture. Ugh on the cycle Sad My dh does the same thing w/ bedtime, I'm strict on the 8pm and life is so much better when she goes to bed at a good time.

I'm in on the planks - make sure you all talk about how awesome you are for keeping with it so I want to do the same!

uphill - i love my acupuncturist. I prefer it to a day at the spa. Hope it goes well today.

uphill/jm - i am just doing 1 plank and holding it as long as possible right now. i figure just start off slow... you can do whatever you feel you want to. But you have to post about it. 10 second plank is better than a 0 second plank.

Jmmiller: Ds woke up at 7:15 Smile  He has actually been doing that a lot lately.  It makes the occasional 5:30am wake-up that much more of a shocker.  I was not diagnosed with PCOS.  3 different docs all said I have polycystic ovaries, but not necessarily PCOS.

Bermy: I like to do a front plank and then one on each side.  I will do mine tonight in front of the tv and report back tomorrow.  My acupuncturist is amazing.  I have been to two others who I felt did not help me in the slightest but this girl seems to be a magician.  She still hasn't gotten me to ovulate. . .but my head, tummy, and stress level all feel SO much better.  She has also become my therapist although I don't know that she necessarily appreciates that Smile

RunningUphill - not sure if you went to specialist or not, but my NP was doing research on PCOS and if it weren't for me randomly having her I wouldn't have been diagnosed.  Dr's are much less likely to diagnose and treat PCOS if a woman has "skinny" PCOS.  Which is what I have.  Since it's a spectrum disorder it all depends on how your body mitigates all the downstream symptoms from having polycystic ovaries.  My body was GREAT at suppressing symptoms like extra hair growth, weight gain (I ran, obviously), no dark patches of skin, etc.  Anyway, my point is you seem pretty fit and not obese and if Dr's aren't "up" on the new research on PCOS they usually don't diagnose in women who don't exhibit "classic" symptoms.  I know, I was given the run around for over a decade on my irregular periods!

You have my total support and empathy!  craptastic ovaries suck!

Uphill/Rocky-  I'm the same way, so far my only symptom is polycystic ovaries, but my doctor is proceeding as if I have PCOS. I'm scared about our next go 'round with TTC since we had it so easy trying for Reid. My plan was to wait until the house is built, but I might have to rehash that and think about trying sooner (maybe summer) in case everything is all jacked up this time. The weird thing is that I always had really regular periods from age 12-18, but then I went on the pill and I guess it masks the problem.  The light hit me just right in the bathroom at lunch today and I noticed my jawline has a bit more fuzz than I previously recall. At least my hair is light/invisible unless you look really closely.  Uphill- have you tried metformin? I know Rocky said it helped her a ton, but my doctor doesn't want to prescribe it to me unless he feels he has to.

Spike/Uphill - it took me 4 months on metformin to get normal cycles and 4-6 months is about average according to my doctor so if you do go that route just wanted you to have that information.  TTC with PCOS or any infertility stuff is a PITA.  Even though I'm still freaking out about having our kids so close together, I'll take that over the trying and unsuccessful cycle after cycle and waiting and waiting for AF and ovulation that we had when trying for Emily.  I know TTC is stressful, but if you're not ovulating, well, it's just no fun at all!

Also my doctor said some women just do metformin for conception and through 1st tri and then get off it if they don't have full PCOS.  It's not an answer, but it can be a treatment for fertility/TTC in the short term.
