Happy Marathon Monday!
GO KAREN GO!!!!
October 4 - Milwaukee, WI - 26.2
November 14 - Richmond, VA - 26.2
March 21 - Virginia Beach, VA - 26.2
8.2 speed work miles for me. I did 15x 1 min/1 min recover. Abs tonight!
Great run! It was in the 60's and the dewpoint was right behind it, but honestly it didn't feel too bad. We had some severe storms roll through last night around 1am and we are supposed to continue to fall (temperature wise) for the rest of the day. Back in the 30's tonight. Anyway, felt really good out there this morning. Still have some tendon niggles in both my feet. But I think they will get better as my "cut week" continues.
Busy day today. Catching up from Friday. Also have to escort some people around the buildings. Hopefully the day flies by!
Laura – UGGHHHH how frustrating about the job! It has been a long time since you were fully staffed! Ugh! You know I quit watching TWD. HCBF still watches it..but I was getting really bored with the story line. Same thing over and over again.
Ginny – We had tornado warnings last night, too! Our temps are dropping right now after the storm. Your goodies looked so good!! YUM.
Docket – Way to tough out the 16! I didn’t realize you could put flooring over those tiles. That is the easier option I am hoping that one of the engineers I work with will have a contact of a contractor that can come by and take a look. I want to paint our cabinets white, too.
Tessa – Haha, I wish people would open their home bathrooms to runners. How cool would that be! Sorry that you still are coughing. Ugh, are you at least feeling any better? Nice job on the miles! How is DD doing?
Margaret – Nice job on that 23 mile run!! The picture you posted was gorgeous! You have the most gorgeous trails in your area. Sorry about the ankle niggle. I get those quite frequently with shoes. Weird. Are you going to try and return them? My body rebels at 60 mile weeks – with aches and pains that last for days haha. It hates me. Hope you enjoyed your ice cream! YUM. I could go for an ice cream sandwich
Thinking about you Karen and sending good vibes!!!!
Happy Monday!
Mighty Mouse
Tornado sirens went off last evening. There was no thunder, lightning or hail, just a lot of rain. Our official weather service had spotted 3 vortices so they ran the alarm. Fortunately everything was ok.
I’m a Ham Radio operator and am in Skywarn (volunteer weather watch group) during weather emergencies so I went to a safe place and monitored weather changes. I have a little portable radio and a good friend made a big antenna for me to use during good weather.
Friday I ran 45 minutes on the TM at the college. Later I had a good yoga class. I went into class with a terrible headache. After working with only 3 poses the headache just disappeared. I was really tired when I got home.
Saturday was SDO
Sunday I found Sunday Buddy! This was our first meeting this Spring. We have met every Spring since the first time (at a drinking fountain) in 1996. We did 60 minutes. Ospreys are very active in the nest. They might have chicks already. I’m not sure.
Today I might dash outside even though it’s colder. It is supposed to snow later.
Safe and happy runs, All!
Where is the "any" key?

Trails
Judy my dad lives near where Sue lives in MS and he said a tornado touched down 5 miles from his house. They had warnings until 2 am on Sat.
Karen, good luck and hope the weather improves for you.
The 21st isn't looking fun for mine:
Saturday
Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 60%. I've never run in the rain and unless it's very warm out I have no desire to any more. Good thing I have $ store rain ponchos...several of them now.
Lizzie your runs always sound like you are having fun out there.
I got 5 in before my massage on Saturday and I'll say she is a miracle worker. My back hurt during the 5 miles, not as bad as it has but I was able to show her exactly where it hurt. She got out one of her massage therapist textbooks that has detailed pictures of the muscles and we identified where it hurt and she was able to work out my kinks. At this point I believe I did hurt something when I hit the deer but didn't realize it at the time due to shock. My back didn't hurt during Hawk which was before it hit the deer but did during the PH which was 5 days after. Bottom line is my back feels 100% better. Did 7 miles on Sunday and no pain at all.
Got my oil changed and then we went and ate at the Japanese restaurant. Spent the rest of the weekend staying as warm as possible. Winds have been in the 30+ mph wind all weekend.
Laura, sorry about the job situation. I've found that series should only last about 3 seasons cause after that they get tedious.
Margaret that's so awesome you can run that mileage and it not be a race. There's nowhere near me I could do that. There's a rail trail about an hour away but it's rather boring. There are some trails down in Tulsa but that's a 2 hour drive but I may start making that one once DD get's her apartment cause I could stay overnight there and there's a group that does Sunday trail runs on Turkey Mtn.
Tessa, lol on home owners letting runners use their bathrooms. Not my house cause the dogs would follow them and sniff and runners may not like that.
Nice 16 on the TM Damaris. Are you feeling better.
Way to tough it out HCK.
Sandy, no doubt I'd have to move. Your weather is awful.
Hi to everyone.
Decided to stay home and call it a sick day. Still working through the cough. I had a coughing meltdown during church yesterday. ;(
Diane--the shipyard wind sirens were going off Saturday night--could have been much worse. Glad your dad was out of harm's way.
Go Karen!!
Hoping to run outside after work, it is a slushy mess right now but main roads are getting cleared so we'll see.
I am tracking Karen, she's doing great given the terrible conditions.
Lizzie - nice run!! I forgot you aren't watching TWD, we actually have it recorded and will watch it tonight. It has gotten pretty dumb. Yes, I have been without a RN for almost 4 months I am scrambling to find someone to go out with me tomorrow afternoon (I thought I had someone but that fell through) so here I am with 24 hours notice (and some people aren't working today due to the weather). AHHHHHHH!!!
Judy - glad you are okay, tornado warnings are scary. This weather is something else, isn't it?
Diane - glad the massage helped. Nice runs!! I agree on the TV shows after a few seasons, they just start recycling storylines. There is a character on The Walking Dead that has been pregnant for like 3 seasons and she's still barely showing! I know it is supposed to take place hourly/daily so time moves slowly but come on now!
Sue - good idea to take a sick day, I sure hope you are feeling better soon!
Running with the Turtles
Happy Boston Marathon Day! A few of us watched the end of the women's elite race at work, it was awesome! Go Desi! 3 miles on the TM for me on Saturday, strength yesterday. I will try to hop on the TM again tonight. It snowed about 5 inches this weekend, with about an inch of ice underneath that from the rain on Saturday as it turned to snow. It's a mess! DD did great in her 5K trail race on Saturday. There were over 200 people that didn't show up. DD finished 2nd in the 14 and under AG, out of 5. I should be healthy enough to do the next one with her for Mother's Day. DH is considering coming out of running retirement to run with her for the Father's Day race! DD did not like running alone, though a man told her that she could run with him. She said that he was very nice. But he ended up slowing down so she went ahead. A friend ran the 10K trail race on Saturday morning, now she is running Boston!
Lizzie, ooh, the fun speedwork! Great job! Awesome mileage last week! Hope your dad is OK. I'm glad you got to enjoy some warm weather before the cold comes back!
Judy, glad that there were no tornados!
Diane, that's awesome that your back is better! Glad your massage therapist figured out the issue!
Sue, rest up and get better!
Laura, hope you get the run in outside! You are braver than me.
Elina, congrats on the trail race!
Sandy, aww, sorry about the run fail! But it sounds like you know why it happened, so I suppose that is good! Hope you survived the blizzard! It was awful this weekend. I am done with snow! And we've hardly had any compared to you. Haha, comfortably slow pace is good. I guess you can count your running with the mean girls as speedwork! I did a kettlebell/kickbox workout on Friday and I think that hurt my foot more than the running!
Tessa, one stick of butter for the garlic bread? It sounds delish!
Damaris, glad the sinuses were better! Nice 16!
Karen, sounds like you are enjoying the trip! Though the marathon conditions look pretty horrible!
Kupcakes, nice job on the HM in those conditions!
Margaret, wow, nice trail miles!
Cathy
WINE o'clock somewhere!
Go Karen, Go Karen!!
Yes, I am alive. Just lazy. Very lazy. I managed a lousy 3 miles today. Not what I need to be doing. I just can't get my head around it lately.
Watched the marathon this morning. Boy, it looked miserable.
My day off, gonna get my nails done and not a whole lot more...
No umph for personals, though I do read stuff here most days.
Hi to all.

Just got a message that Karen had completed half marathon distance...seems she is doing well, to me it is spectacular, especially under the weather conditions! Shes my hero!
Did go workout this morning and felt good, have to run tomorrow, I have to.
Sounds like a great run this morning Lizzie, how I long for those running temps.
Tessa...we usually don't get tornadoes until the weather warms up, but this year is different in every respect I guess.
Diane...how wonderful about your back! Your massage therapist sounds wonderful.

She definitely has me thinking I can finish this marathon pain free. I've considered not going due to the weather (cold and rainy) since I know those condition would make it feel worse, at least before. Now I'm working on my plan on how to endure the cold and rain. Karen is a certified bad ass to run Boston in those conditions.
Karen, you are doing SO GREAT. I watched what I could from the internet and the conditions looks AWFUL. You are awesome!!!!
Diane – I prefer cold rain honestly. Because you can wear pants and it will prevent chafe. LOL. No really, it isn’t that bad at all. Once you are wet – you are wet! Good news about the back!! Ugh, you are making me think about coughing up the money to get a massage. Hmmmm….CRAP you just reminded me I need an oil change! Haha.
Susan – Oh Susan, get better soon! Have you been to the doctor? What if its something other than allergies?
Laura – Hang in there with work! There has to be an end in sight. You will have a great run after work today with all of this work frustration.
Cathy – Congrats again to DD! She did so great! It was like the weather didn’t even bother her Oh boy – DH coming out running retirement to run with her? That would be so cute!! How is your foot feeling? Must be okay if you are running tonight, too! That makes me happy! Was the kettlebell/kickboxing workout you did at home?
Kathryn – I have been wondering where you have been! Nice job on the miles! Enjoy your day off!
Ginny – Karen is my hero, too!! Glad you feel better after the workout! Loved that picture of you on Facebook
Have a great evening everyone!
Congratulations Karen!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!!
Yay Karen!!!!! It was so fun stalking you and you are fast woman!!!! Congratulations!
Prefer cold rain, Lizzie? Oh boy, we are so different, LOL!!! Only in the temperature catagory though.
Lol Lizzie, my car tells me when I need an oil change and it's annoying about it. No, just no on the cold rain...I'm with Ginny on this one.
I am hoping to make the Marathon Maniacs by doing the marathon then 2 50ks (1 in May, one in Jun) but this marathon does not look like fun. I'm trying to look at it as a challenge...what doesn't kill you makes you ...well alive.
Tessa
Diane, hope the weather does cooperate!
YAY KAREN!
Laura, that really stinks that they are not communicating with you and you can't do your job because of the staffing problems. No way you can go out alone or paired with another social worker?
Still hoarse and coughing. Did not get up to run this morning and had a conference call 11-1:30. Bah. They had lunch catered in for the people in person, but since it was about 1000 miles away I was not likely to get a share!
