      9.5 or 9.6 speedwork miles for me. I did 6x .50/w /30 rest. Then 3x .10/w.10 rest.

I was supposed to do just 9..but I paused my watch a little after mile 1 to fix my socks and forgot to turn it back on until my Garmin started counting down to idle mode. LOL. Opps. I know the neighborhood distance by heart..I am pretty sure I went over by .60. I swear it is colder today than yesterday..but the temperature says otherwise. My lashes didn't freeze but my hair did!! It was a good run..I am surprised at how well I did those intervals considering I was coughing a lot due to the cold dry air.

I may have to make my "LR" tomorrow. Like I did last week - 4 days in a row. We are getting snow tonight..not much..a dusting to 2". AKA they have no freakin clue...but its going to be so cold its going to stick around. I think its LESS icy if I run while its falling. I am worried about iced over roads on Friday. We will see. I really need to invest in a treadmill. My anxiety starts going worrying about this crap and it would be easier if I had the option of a treadmill. My gym has them and they are 24 hour...but it would be so much more convenient in my own home Smile

I saw an ambulance when I was running. No emergency lights or anything..they kinda stopped to see if I was okay. Like, who is this crazy girl running in 9 degrees! LOL..I later saw them at a house with someone on a stretcher. Hmmm...

Cathy & Sandy - I am all for cold weather. You can always put more on..is my saying. BUT...if I had to deal with these single digit temps for 3-4 months..I would probably hate it. It takes so much time to layer!! And you have to be super cautious about any water on the road. I think I would get annoyed. We have only had to deal with it for 2 weeks - next week our lows are back in the 20's. I understand your pain. BUT..it still beats humidity.

Docket – I hope you get to do your run outside today!!

Margaret – Food is way more important than personals.

Tessa – Yes, it is very unusual. 44.95$ a month really isn’t bad at all. Like Carol mentions, I am sure you can do a lot of it via the internet. Do you write down all of your calories/points? Or do you use an app? I am going to have to look into that today. Nice interval run yesterday!

Carol – Nice miles yesterday! Thanks for the info on WW! I am going to have to look into that!

Karen – LOL..isnt family time great? Hang in there.

Enough blabber from me. Happy Wednesday!

        Good morning!

I did 6 miles yesterday, but my phone died at 5.3... ;( I picked up Skye for the last mile and she loved it! I may take her farther tonight. I did core, but may go trot down to the park and back this afternoon.

Lizzie and all you other northerners-- idk how you do it.  It was 38F yesterday and I was still all bundled up.  Even Skye ran with a sweater!

        Have a great day!

        Mighty Mouse

Tuesday I did 60 minutes running on the TM. I’m trying to add a little speed as I go because all I do on a TM is bounce around.

Today I plan another TM run. At least it is staying light a little bit longer now. I want Spring.

          Safe and happy runs, All!

          Where is the "any" key?

6 mi this morning in 3* temp / -15* windchill.  Did NOT feel strong but it felt good to get out there!  One of the fast girls talked me into it.  We did our old route where we run to meet each other and then did an out and back and then split again for home.  Nice because I only have to run “fast” for 3 mi haha.  The moon was BRILLIANT!  Pretty sure that’s the high for the day, though, so I splurged on parking so I don’t have to walk the mile after work in the cold wind.

Damaris – Oooh, even YOU are getting cooler weather!  I’m happy for you!  Whoa that’s some serious demolition work!

Gatsby – nope, my big one is next year.  I’m all of 7months younger than you hee hee.  That is so super kind of you to be airport transport!  Especially when it involves missing a workout.  How long are you solo?

HCK – 3 mi on the dreadmill is stellar!  IMO.  And definitely better than no miles!

Karen – nice miles and I’m green over your 50*.  Oh no on the family frustrations.  Hope you can sneak away during times like those.  Hang in there!

Carol – okay, I think I have FINALLY linked you with your FB haha.  Took me long enough.  Yeah, that bone chilling shivery cold post run is the WORST!

Tessa – yay for alcohol reducing the lbs a touch – gives me hope.  For me it’s more it leads to poor food decisions.  Not necessarily unhealthy, just an increase which I don’t need.  I’m more of a salt rather than sugar person.  Not super restrictive and I’m a sucker for bakery cookies and cake but I don’t really keep treats in the house.  A smear of peanut butter with cinnamon on a corn tortilla is good enough to satisfy when needed.  Oh, that’s funny – I had not noticed/checked the dates for lent/Easter.  An early one this year.

Lizzie – I had about 1000 emails yesterday which is about 1/3 less than I would expect on a normal week.  Most of those were filtered and I only had to glance through.  I think it was just about 200 I actually had to read and only a handful I had to respond to so not too shabby!  Oh!  I thought of you this morning – and maybe you know this or it’s a non-issue – but, in this super cold weather, beware of garage key pad freezing if that’s the way you enter your house.  Um, yeah, you giving up drinking and not losing weight is NOT motivating LOL.  But, you have ZERO lbs to ditch.  Honestly, my goal is more to not drink at home by myself for no reason – it’s just become a bad habit.  If I have the opportunity to meet friends out I will most likely have a drink.

Judy – weird about your Yahoo mail.  LOL on still getting the Viagra ads – you know, the important stuff.  OMG a heater from the ceiling in the exercise room sounds awful!  Is this a community center by chance?

Elina – whoa sounds like a pretty crazy start to the year.  Hope you were able to blow off some steam at practice!  Oh!  And I forgot to comment on the cutie patootie pic of mini-K last week.  What a doll!!

Lizzie2 -  awesome speedy run this morning!  Awww that’s sad about the person you saw on the stretcher.  I saw on the news this morning that the east coast is getting some winter weather this weekend.  Totally true that humidity is the WORST and, yes, it’s more that this stuff gets annoying.  And when the temp is in the double digits below zero with a windchill in the -30 range it is NOT FUN to run outside.  At. All.  LOL

Sue – LOL on Skye in a sweater – sounds super cute.  Nice miles!  Um, yeah, I’d be THRILLED with 38*.  No jacket or hat needed.

Kat or anyone else – do you know if Chuck and Don’s sells Rx food?  And, if they do, do I need an Rx like a human?

That’s all I’ve got over here.  Super happy it’s Wednesday already!!

            ginnyb

3 on the TM again this morning.  My son joined me He finished way before me, but it was fun having him there.  Anyone have any suggestions for earphones that actually stay in your ear?  Mine keeping popping out constantly, very irritating. After the TM I had leg session with trainer and he killed me.  Not sure it is a good idea to run and do leg day right after one another, but I made it through.

Single digits still here this morning and supposed to be even colder tomorrow and Friday...I'm so excited .  I want to be home in my jammies too Liz!  I want to be in my jammies until about April!

Morning!  I switched my 6 last night for today's 5 due to time and rain, and better weather tonight.  Gah, I woke up with a slight sore throat, I CAN'T GET SICK ON RACE WEEK!

Anyway, 6 with 2 @ MP and weights tonight.

I called the vet to see if she would give me more steroids for Bugsy.  His stomatitis sores are pretty bad again (or he hurt one of them) and he is spitting a bit of blood and eating with some pain.  She promised to let me have some more if needed so I am calling her for that.

Lizzie, nice workout.  You do know you can stop the watch at 9 before my head exploded, right?

Susan, nice 6 and Skye run.

                Judy, enjoy the TM run.

Sandy, nice run.  Yeah, little by little.  We do 1/3 of the area at a time. So we'll be done by 2020.  LOL.

                Ginny, nice 3.

                WINE o'clock somewhere!

                  Lizzie, awesome run as always!!

Sue, 38, jealous!  Actually, I don't know how much it warmed up here yesterday, but it is frigid (for Southern TX) again today.

Judy, good getting some variation in on the TM!

Sandy, I looked at that site, and it doesn't look like it.  If you haven't already, look at Chewy.com.  They are pretty popular for Rx diets.  And yes, you will need a prescription.

Ginny, congrats getting on the TM!  I know it has been a bit of a struggle.

It is flipping 28 out there this morning.  NO THANK YOU.  It is supposed to get to 22 tonight.  I think some of my plants are toast.  Needless to say, this uber wimp isn't out there.

Poor kitty is doing very poorly, feel bad.  Thinking of letting her go.  I need to talk to the oncologist first.  I pilled her for a week, and now she is running from me if I come anywhere near her.  Sad

I did finally hear back from the volunteer coordinator a few days after I messaged him.  He put me back on the list.  He took the wrong volunteer off when she said she had to back out.  YAY!  There are WAY too many of us, but oh well.

I GOT OLD yesterday.  I am officially needing glasses....  The awesome pair I really really want won't fit the prescription I need.  (Progressive lenses, geez.)  I found one I like a lot, so I guess I will go with those.

Luckily it is supposed to warm up by Saturday (race day) to about 60 as a high, but starting at 40.

                  Keep warm everyone.

                  Running with the Turtles

Rest day today, walking the dogs later and DD and I are getting haircuts.  Did my 5 miles outside yesterday, it was 10 degrees but 15+ mph winds, so a feels like -11.  I don't think I have ever been that cold.  Running into the wind was literally painful.  Karen's name may have been taken in vain.    I'm doing the Strava challenge she told us about on FB, I have to do 25 miles outside in the next couple weeks.  5 times outside, 5 miles each?  Easy peasy?    Hopefully this will be the coldest one!  My foot still hurts after I run but is OK during the run.

Lizzie, nice speedwork!  Light snow is fun to run in, as long as it isn't over ice!  That's really slippery.  My trail shoes have been good the past few outings, some people don't shovel their sidewalks.  The bike trail is usually pretty clear but I figured it would be good to run in the neighborhood and have some buffer from the wind.  I still prefer being hot to cold.  I like getting a good sweat on.    DD won't skip a race because she wants to complete the medal.    The next races are Jan, Feb, and March.  Our winter goes through about April.    Though in the past we've had some really warm days in March.  I'm hoping that happens again.

Sandy, the moon has been really big and bright the past few days.  A little cloudy here this morning.  Nice 6 miles!  Our high for the day was also this morning.

Ginny, I have small ears and the old school wrap around type headphones work the best for me.  I use those on the treadmill.  They are like these:  https://www.amazon.com/Headphones-Microphone-Exercise-earphones-Earphones/dp/B0732Y8M6Q/ref=sr_1_61?ie=UTF8&qid=1514992594&sr=8-61&keywords=sports+headphones  Everything else pops out.  Outdoors I use a single bud earphone with an added piece that fits around my ear to help keep it in place.  I am curious about the wireless bone conduction headphones.  Nice workout!

Judy, haha, I got a chuckle at the mention of those "reducing machines".

Damaris, wow, breaking that tile looks like a major workout!  I hope the sore throat is nothing!  Aww, I hope Bugsy gets better.

Elina, ugh, hope you can put out the fires!

Tessa, yes, DD will do all the races so she can get all the medals and put together the giant snowflake.    Plus she likes the additional AG medal.  She is collecting a lot of bling.  They also have candy, cookies and chocolate milk after the race.  And we have a post-race tradition of going to Panera to get chicken noodle soup.  She loves all those things.    I may do dry January also, though I will start a day late.

Kat, sorry about your kitty.  And about getting old.

                    Waves to everyone!

Kathryn reminded me of this.  Y'all will laugh.

We are starting to book our hotel and transportation for the Martha's Vineyard marathon. Since it's an island, etc., we need to make those arrangements quickly.  We were researching whether to stay on the island or the mainland and hubby was looking at the hotels on the island and suddenly said, WTF?  All these are far from the finish.  25 miles?  50 miles?  How big is this island anyway?  I go look and it was POINT 25 AND POINT 50 MILES from the finish (so 1/4-1/2 miles away).  FFS.  Blind.  He is blind!

                      Kathryn, yay at the volunteering!

                      cathy, nice 5!

                      Tessa

Damaris, chortling at your DH with the Martha's Vineyard marathon. I don't think that the island is all that big! If it was Long Island or maybe Vancouver you might have a bit more to worry about.

Getting house projects done a bit at a time can work well.

Carol, if you go onto the website for WW, mouse over your name in the upper right corner, and click "Settings", you can change the setting to use FitPoints first, use the weeklies first, or not use the fitpoints at all. I can see not wanting to use them if you don't earn many, but for marathon training I think you do need to use some of them.

WW stopped their forums a while back. I was sad, I had some good friends on the marathons board. There's a closed Facebook group of WW marathons people, I believe, and if you want to be introduced I could get in touch with a few of those women. Nice group. I don't do FB so haven't joined. WW has something called Connect which I cannot get used to. (Haven't tried very hard.)

Liz, I enter everything online. Not a paper tracker person. That $44.95 is for both meetings and online, if you do online only then it is cheaper however you don't get the weekly weigh in and support. I did a lot better with meetings as well, but it depends a lot on the leader -- mine is great, there is another leader at my center who I just don't mesh with. Check out a few leaders and see which one you like. WW will let you go to a meeting for free but you won't be able to weigh in. Also if you want to get to lifetime, which means making your goal weight and then maintaining it for at least 6 weeks, and then have free access to the meetings and online, you have to be a meetings member. You can't become lifetime through online only. (Some people do online for most of it and join for meetings to lose the last few pounds to get to lifetime.) Oh, and you are always lifetime (I am) but if you don't weigh in within 2 lbs of your goal weight each month then you do have to start paying until you get back to goal+2. I am 20 lbs above goal so have some work to do to get back to free status.

Cathy, it sounds as if DD is collecting quite a bit of bling from this series! She will like the giant snowflake, I'm sure. Nothing wrong with reward for effort!

I think I'd stay close to home and in slightly more shielded terrain too, given those temperatures. Houses do give off heat and bike paths usually seem windswept.

Kathryn, can you bring in your plants? Sorry about the kitty. (I assume you pilled the cat, rather than pilling the oncologist?) Which one is this cat?

And glad the volunteer thing was just a name mixup.

Ginny, no suggestions on headphones or earbuds (I don't wear them) but glad you got on the TM!

Sandy, good for you on the 6 in this cold. Nice that you got a warmup and cooldown with the fast run in between. (I admit I am too cheap to pay for parking.)

And you are right, alcohol often leads to bad food decisions. Like eating a pound of salted peanuts. (Yes, I can.) Even worse when the alcohol is IN the food, like my mother's fruitcake which should not be consumed if one is planning to drive. Some fruitcakes can knock you down if they're thrown with enough force. All that is necessary for you to fall down with this one is to say yes please to a second slice.

Karen, sorry that you are so bored. Another long run while they watch TV? Cavemen? I can think of several movies that fit that description and they're all really old.

Judy, bouncing on a TM rather than going forward? Might help if you turned it on...

Susan, I would think Skye would need a sweater. Weims don't have heavy coats! If your phone died at 5 something, you might want to tuck it under more layers of clothing to keep it warmer. Batteries do die in the cold. Nice 6!

Went out for a run with RN this morning. Texts last night:

                        "running tomorrow?"

                        "Yep. Coming?"

"Yes. How about Shangri-La Drive and back?"

"So 4? Is that time or miles?"

                        "Yes."

both 4 miles and 4 AM. We made it. She pulled ahead at the end because she had a train to catch to get to work. We did wind up coming back uphill and into the wind, so I slowed down, but still made it. The moonlight was diffused through clouds and we wouldn't even have needed the streetlights.

So far so good on dry Veganuary...glad I cooked this weekend though. Makes a big difference to have food in the fridge for evenings.

SELOC, the exercise room was put in when the building was built...1970. There used to be giant painted exercise (aerobic clothes, slouch socks) girls on the women's wall and exercise guys painted on the guys' exercise room (weights machines). At least the guys looked more like they were running. The whole idea of exercise for average people was really different then.

GINNY, the ordinary earbuds work for me. Once in a while one will pop out so I pull them out the top of my jacket or shirt. Sometimes I add a headband that keeps them in my ears more snugly.

                          Where is the "any" key?

Lizzie, great job on the run! Looking at that speed work description and don't even want to put any effort into figuring out the equivalent in meters... How's the stuff w mammel going? Annoying as always? FWIW we have a treadmill at home and only use it when one of us wants to run less than 4k, which qualifies as ''too lazy to pull all the layers for run that short'' OR the cases of ''why not get a fast run in despite the fact that it's almost midnight''. Oh and for DH also hangover runs so that glass of water can always be within reach Big grin

Kat, hm, interesting mixture of good and bad news from your side. And don't worry about needed glasses. Have had ones for many years.

Cathy, 5x5mi doesn't sound like a tough challenge for you at all Smile

Sue, nice to hear Skye enjoyed her segment of the run Smile

Sandy, still smiling about you using the term ''fast girls''. First association - Kenyans Big grin Or Paula Radcliffe, at least.

Ginny, I have these earphones, never had any issues. Around $50 at local store.

Thanks for cheering me up, the s---storm, as we call it in the office, was partially dealt with. Surely a new day brought another surprise, because it always does. I've been working on a list of calculations for weeks, list of objects - I was specifically sent a priority list so that the urgent ones are tackled first. Today a guy also involved in the project (but not the one who sent the priority list) suddenly informed us that the priorities have changed (I briefly checked my list and saw that the NOW important ones are on the very bottom of initial list). I was there when he was on the speaker telling that to my boss and adding he'd send an updated list (remember - I worked on the initial one for weeks). Boss reaction? ''Elina is here, I see her face expression; you want to send that updated list - you do that - but I'd advice WFH tomorrow, because she'll walk the whole kilometer (not exaggeration, we have a huge office) to your office just to throw a chair at you, then stab you to death w pencils or whatever you have there and set your pc on fire, because, really, seriously, this is not f---ing ok /long list of obscene Russian words/.'' Two department director conversation <3 1) I love my boss for moments like this, I felt I could hug her that moment 2) Her description matched exactly how I felt...

....heading for a run to clear my head.

Sandy – Nice job getting out there!! WOOHOO! Proud of you Smile Funny you mention the moon..I meant to mention that yesterday. I haven’t needed to use a flashlight the past couple days. Super bright. Okay, avoiding alcohol to avoid snacking..I GET THAT. Totally get that. I remember there were times when I was bar hopping and would eat dinner somewhere..and then at 2am the pizza place sounded good. Or..there was this really good hot dog place with the BEST onion rings. Oh man. Okay, that makes sense Smile Aw, you’re sweet – there are lbs to ditch..I just hide them well. Wink Oh yes winter weather..weird that is VA beach. Limited for us. Sigh. You go to your gym to run on the treadmill, right? Ever thought about getting one at home?

Susan – Ruger had a sweater AND a coat on!! He needed little paw mittens Smile

Judy – SHHH that S word. Haha Smile I have noticed it is staying darker for longer in the mornings, too.

Ginny – Hmmm…what kind of ear phones do you have now? Have you tried the ones that clip to your ear? Like these

I find those stay in better. I have piercings in my tragus..so those have always worked well for me! Don’t bounce right out like the buds do. BUT I do like the ones Cathy mentioned.  Nice job on the run this morning!!! Your legs are going to be toast. Smile

Docket – NOOOO I hope you aren’t getting sick!! Where is your race this weekend?!Awe, poor Bugsy!! LOL at your DH.

Kathryn – I thought of you and Karen this morning – they were showing parts of TX that were frozen. So crazy. Oh no…so sorry about kitty Sad I bet you look good with glasses Smile Your race forecast actually sounds perfect!

Cathy – OMGosh! Nice cold run yesterday!! What did you wear for that? Glad the foot is OK during the run. I have been having that issue too…pain during normal activities but not while I am running. I am thinking they are just cranky because it is so cold. Hey, I like getting a good sweat on too..but not when I am walking to my car. LOL. I might have to look into getting some of those earphones that you have…hm. I do the one bud in when I am outside, also.

Tessa – Oh wow..I didn’t realize WW had those kind of incentives for maintaining weight. I think I would do the online to start and then do the meetings. It would do me good to go to a weigh in. I never weigh in at home. Nice job getting up and out there this morning. You are so right about having food in the fridge prepped and ready.

Kilmisters – LOL at your reasoning for a treadmill at home. I LOVE IT. I am going to get one. I just have to pull the trigger. Mammel..well, I ignore him for the most part. I still need to get out of here though. He never gives me challenging tasks. He never asks me to do anything different actually. Same ol’ thing day in and day out. If I am not challenged I get bored. I think we all know that Smile  You have an awesome boss!!!! Hope the run helps to clear your head Smile

VA is in for a major snow storm. Well, of course not RICHMOND. We are always on “the line” and that includes this time, too. BLAH. Dusting to 1”.. ANYWAY the BEACH is supposed to get 8-14” and they are in a blizzard warning. I told HCBF he needs to come home. He keeps giving me excuses that he has to do things and blah blah. I asked him how he expects to do anything in 8” of snow?! The beach will crumble. They are not used to that kinda snow. Whatever. If he wants to be stranded down there with no power so be it. Men are so stubborn! That is my vent for today.

                              I still want my jammies!

                                Hello and Happy Wednesday!

2 on the TM.  I also want to just curl up on the sofa with a blanket.  Thu-Sat are supposed to be just frigid, yippee (NOT)!!

Lizzie - send me some of your mojo please!  Mine left right after the time change.  This cold and snowy weather is wild, I can't believe how much of the country is having freezing temps!

Sue - nice run, glad Skye got to come along!

Judy - awesome TM run, I want spring too!!

Sandy - the moon was super bright, I noticed it when I got up and let the dog out.  1000 emails, OMG! Glad you didn't have to sift through each one.

Ginny - fun to run alongside DS!!  WTG on the run and leg workout!

Damaris - oh no, I hope you are not getting sick, feel better!!

Kat - I am sorry about kitty, poor thing.  I  have terrible eyes, too.  Glad the volunteer thing was just a mistake!

Hi Cathy!  Way to go on the outside running!!

Tessa - nice 4 at 4!!  You asked about my job w/o a partner - I can go out to do re-assessments with people but you have to have both disciplines to do an initial assessment, so I will be having to find people to go out with me.  I have two next week that I'm trying to find people to go with.  Fun stuff.  Associate Director will be here tomorrow to do interviews so we'll see if she has an update.

Elina - hope you had a good head-clearing run!!
