      15.1 for me Smile

Oh MAN that felt so GOOD. I had 14 on the schedule..by the time my watch alerted me I was at 13..I was so lost in the run that I still had a little ways to get back home - so I went down that extra culdesac to make it 15. I love those kind of runs! I felt PF occasionally and a shin splint at the beginning..but those were reminders to take it nice and slow. Man, love those kind of runs!

I got in the door at 6:15...was out the door to work by 7:15. I managed to wash my hair, dry my hair, makeup, straighten hair, eat some oatmeal, do my PF stretches and foam roll.  I did not have time to take Ruger on his usual morning walk. I dont think he minded - it was 27 out there and he gets cold! I will be dead by 11am.

Hoping to get a grocery trip in during lunch time. I will run by the house to drop everything off on my way back to work. I dont want to go..but have to and would rather not wait until after work.

Lisa – That is the issue I have with yoga – its so slow moving. But maybe I am not concentrating hard enough. I will have to give it another go. Sigh. They offer Vinyasa yoga at my gym. How are the wedding plans with DD going???

Karen – Nice miles yesterday lady! I am sure you are beat – getting ready for a trip is exhausting and you ran 15 miles before all that! Sorry you didn’t get much sleep. Hopefully you can sleep on the plane! Have a safe flight and a great time this weekend! The conference sounds really fun. How long is your long run Sunday if you ran 15 yesterday?!

Laura – Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

Hi Run4kupcakes! Are they calling for snow in your area this weekend?

Tessa – Did you take a vacation day or are you working from home? No guilt feelings for those things! You do get a lunch break you know Smile UGH on the emails! That happens to me DAILY. D A I L Y and its so frustrating. Are you going to say something about it? Glad DD and DS are right on schedule!

Margaret – I was wondering where you have been young lady Smile Sorry for the ho-hum week. Its almost the weekend!! A half sounds fun! Which one is it?

Docket – I saw your post about your awful run yesterday. Sorry Sad Could it be that you are tired from the hardcore running you have been doing this week? Plus not getting much sleep? GOOD LUCK today! You are going to kill it!

Diane - Its almost time!! You are going to rock it tomorrow!!!

Lots of changes with HCBF's job. He had a meeting yesterday with his boss - and his boss basically told him if he isn't planning on moving he needs to start looking for another job.  Kind of irritating considering he has been there 10 years. You would think an employee with that kind of tenure, you would find a spot for him in the city he lives in. We would also consider moving if they gave him the money he deserves - or at least give him OT!! So the search begins!

Okay, enough blabber from me. Ready for the WEEEEEEKEENNNDDDDD!!!

        Fri YAY!!!

Walked the pups this morning.  Yesterday afternoon was beautiful--walked the pups and then did a 3 mile run to the park. I felt like a slug. UGH.

My watch and Strava are not talking to each other again. sigh... and I couldn't log in from the house.  IDK.

Judy--potato soup sounds yummy.  I need that in my life!! While DF is gone I'm cooking all the vegetables he won't eat. Last night was baked eggplant.

Lizzie--wow! Long run + work. I would be face down on the desk.

        Karen--are you racing this weekend??

        Diane--racing?? Have fun!!

        Trails

          Saturday

Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.Morning low is 51.  Don't like the wind but what can you do but just deal with it.

Susan, glad you got to go on a mini vacay and meet up with DF.  I'm doing the Prairie Spirit 50k tomorrow.  Not exactly racing for me...I'm hoping for 9 hours.

Lizzie that sucks about BF...but typically they let people who have been there longer go and find a cheaper replacement.  Sad but true in some crappy companies.  I hope he finds one and gets out of that place.  You too!   You both deserve better.

Karen enjoy the Pacific NW...I've always wanted to go there and Northern CA too.

Damaris sorry about the crappy run...they happen but it does feel awful when they do.

Tessa I have to say where I work is very good about not sending emails out after hours, at least not my department.  My boss is real good too about comp time for any over 40 since we are salary and don't get overtime.

          HCK...ick on the snow.

Slowly packing my entire house it seems for this trip.  Thank goodness I'm driving and can take everything I "might" need.  Houston in Dec is going to be hard.  I've never tapered before, well I've also never been consistent about training...sorry LIsa, went into the Hawk winging it....so this 3 days of NOT doing anything has me as jumpy as a long tailed cat in a room full or rocking chairs.  And to top that off I'm drinking a cup of coffee...lol.  Never said I was smart, just persistent.

I'll try and do as good a job as Tessa or Damaris in my RR and will try and get some pictures.

          Seloc

12 mi for me.  It was an okay run - I've had better and I've had worse.  My hands were FREEZING the entire time.  I wore gloves - should have grabbed the mittens.  Met up with a couple girls at 8mi so joined them for about a mile before I had to peel off.  So happy to get this done today though now it may end up we don't get much snow.  Who knows.  At least I don't have to stress about it too much now LOL.  Not much planned for the weekend.  Maybe meeting up with a friend tomorrow evening to watch some basketball but that's it.  Fine by me!

Ginny - glad you like the new trainer!  Sorry you have to work tomorrow.  Whatcha up to on your day off today?  Oh hey, how did the wallpaper removal go?  Are you painting now?

Kat - nice 5 yesterday!  I swear half the battle is just getting out the door.  Impressed with your green thumb!  I've tried patio cherry tomatoes a couple times and both failed.  Now I just buy from the farmer's market.  Life is life and work is work for me, too.  But, I'm fairly content with it all at the mo'

Cathy - yikes on the early work call and busy day.  30s and clear for Sunday's 5K sounds pretty darn good!  Can't wait for DD to get her last medal to complete the big snowflake!  That beer run half looks FUN!  I would even consider it but not sure I want to drive 5 1/2 hours for a half LOL  But, if Mr. Math is running it well then hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm haha  Your vacation is coming soon!  Warmer weather - yay!!

Tessa - agreed - not good at all that the dog nipped.  My BIL thinks she's getting senile.  Not sure what they will do about that.  Yep, my sister's right hand.  She went in for a check up the other day and only then realized how serious this was.  Holy cats that's a LOT of time zones to accommodate!!

Elina - haha I love that shirt about the Kenyans.  I think minimum order for delivery at the Chinese place is $15 so pretty easy to meet.

Damaris - bet you are killin it in court right now!  Oh man, mentor/coworker would piss me off royally, too!  Chill the eff out is RIGHT.  Hope the anxiety calms down after today.

Sue - awww glad you had such a nice time away with DF.  But, holy crap that's a long drive!  Baked eggplant?  Hmmmm  Do you just slice in saucers and bake?  Eggplant scares me - I'm always afraid it's going to be too mushy.

Judy - thanks for posting the recipe!  I may give it a try.  I do like potato soup and made one a couple months back I think I found on skinnytaste but it didn't have much flavor.  Yours looks better and EASY PEASY.  I won't even attempt a recipe if it has too many ingredients haha.  How did you like it?

Lisa - thanks for the yoga info!  It is funny to me how you can sweat in yoga - I sure do!  Oh boy, I totally agree with the instructors calming and positive voice.  The end of class often chokes me up and I'm NOT like that usually at all.

Karen - oh boy that's an early wakeup.  Hope you took advantage of the entire row and were able to nap on the plane!  Have a fantastic weekend!  Can't wait to hear about.  Super jealous of your long run in a new location, too!

Laura - Ms Consistency!  So is your snow completely gone?  We still have plenty and plenty of big piles but it is shrinking.  I sure wouldn't mind it a little warmer, though!  Anything fun this weekend?  No spring sports for your kiddos?

HCK - ouch on the elbow!  Sounds like you'll want to hand off snow removal duties to DH!

Tessa2 - webinar on your day off?  Ugh!  Ooooh, emails like that would tick me off royally.  Glad DD and DS first day went well.  Continued safe travels to them!  Hope you get a nice run in today and work chills down

Gatsby - ho hum bird   Good luck in your half!  Trail, I take it?

Lizzie2 - cheater!  You were only supposed to go 14   Teasing!  Nice run!  Whoa that was one productive hour - whew!  And grocery at lunch??  But, I agree, MUCH better than after work if you can swing it.  Let me guess, spaghetti for dinner?  hee hee  Ugh on HCBFs job!  Dang he needs to find something better.  And, he will, I'm sure of it.  Good things happen to good people.  Fun day for you tomorrow!  I have a hair appt next Fri and cannot WAIT.  It's quite unruly haha  Hope your day goes fast!

Diane - yay yay it's finally here!  Super duper excited for you tomorrow.  Yep a bit windy but sounds like you have a great attitude.  Good luck and have fun!!

Okay, best do some work.  Is it 4pm, yet??  Have a great weekend everyone!!

            Running with the Turtles

Happy Friday!  At least it's a short day for me today due to working extra on Tuesday.  5K on Sunday morning, the last in the Winter Series.  Does that mean winter is almost over?    New location this year for the race, it's about an hour drive, then a shuttle to the race start.  So we will have to get up early!  Normally they have an indoor location to wait before the race, not this one.  I guess I will bring my parka!    Seems like a lot of effort to run for a half hour.

Lizzie, yay on the awesome run!  27?  That's parka weather.    That sucks about HCBF's job.  But it reminds me of something a manager once said to me, "The technical stuff is easy".  Meaning he can hire anyone to do anything.  Unfortunately, that's the opinion of a lot of managers.  Though he said that to me early in his career, I wonder if he would say the same thing now?  I am hoping that the job situation improves for both of you!  The 5K in Vegas will be the morning of our last day there, on April 7, we will fly out that night.  The race was formerly "Strip on the Strip 5K", though there was actually no "stripping" involved.    You could bring clothing donations and strip them off as you run, but I don't know why anyone would actually do that, vs just donating the clean clothes beforehand.  Especially since they wanted career type clothing!  Now it is the 4.01K Race for Financial Fitness, benefitting Junior Achievement.  That's a mouthful.    Starting at Hooters Casino.  Ha.  Yes, Kaitlyn is running with me.  I figure I'm not going to PR, so we might as well just run it for fun!

Sue, welcome back!  You need to ease back into it.

Diane, good luck tomorrow!  Travel safe.

Sandy, 12 on a Friday morning is awesome!  For us "normal" folk, not the super-humans like Liz, haha.  I hate having cold hands!  That beer half is a popular one, they always fill up.  Mr. Math is not doing that one (as of yet), but he is doing the 14 miler in Fort Atkinson in August.  But that would be just as long a drive for you.     Relaxing weekend is A-OK.

              Hi Margaret!

Tessa, that does not sound like much of a vacation day!  DD will complete her medal this weekend.  I guess I will too.    Though several people have posted to FB saying they will miss this race for various reasons and asking if they can get the medal anyway.  What's the point if you don't actually run the race?     Haha, yeah, I actually don't do well running in wind!  But DD would probably be a kite.    Glad you have had no issues with flooding!

Elina, I don't mind a little snow during the race, but the day before the race it tends to make things icy.  Then we go through the cycle of melt/refreeze/melt/watery mess.  Which I am sick of at this point!

Kupcakes, glad you survived the snowstorm!

Hi Laura, I am with you on the snow.  Though we have been lucky this year in missing the big storms!

Lisa, nice that you are running again!

Damaris, that "mentor" sounds like a real tool.  I am sure you will do great today!

              Cathy

              kats

              WINE o'clock somewhere!

Though I work Sundays, Friyay indeed here too.

Lizzie, sweet run!!!  I can't believe that about HCBF, terrible.  Best to you both getting new opportunities that are better.

Sue, so glad you had a great visit!  A fun trip with your honey beats a run any day in my books.

Diane, so excited for you!!!  You will rock it out!  It is nice when you can drive to a race and feel like you have everything you need.  Don't worry about December, you will be fine.  You have lots of races in between to figure it out.

Sandy, nice Lizzie miles!  HATE cold hands, the worst.  Enjoy your weekend of friends and BB.  I'm pretty content with my life too.  Something I wasn't in Seattle.

                Cathy, enjoy your short day!!

                Margaret, sorry you are ho-hum...

Karen, ENJOY Portland!  Wheeee.  I hope the weather decides to be decent.

Damaris, hope you are killing it this morning!

No run this morning, but I hadn't planned on it.  I did have a lovely sleep in.

We shall see how work goes.  Strange yesterday.  Another company that we have some sort of relationship with came in.  Not really sure how it works, but they seemed all cozy about our relationship.  They are a full service clinic that we work with in other cities.  Eventually they are supposed to expand to San Antonio - which I knew about.  OK, fine.  Chatted with the dude for a bit.  Seemed to like me, didn't say outright anything, but gave the impression a job could be a potential.  OK, weird.  Come to find out, they had NO business being in our clinics and came without notice.  They did outright try to poach one of the staff (non-DVM), and I mean made an informal job offer.  All the higher muckity mucks were OUTRAGED.  Supposedly they are coming by my other clinic today.  If they do, I am supposed to gather as much info as possible being all nice-nice.  Oh, the drama of Vetco!

Excited, my GF from Boise is going to come visit in October to see the Monarch Butterfly migration.  She is going to stay while I am in Canada and watch my beasts!!  Paying for some of her trip as a thank you.  Sweet.

Not much on the books for the weekend.  Run and maybe go to an Indian Festival downtown tomorrow.  Totally bummed, there is a paella festival on Sunday, and of course I work.  I adore paella.

                Happy trails all!

It's snowing in Seattle, in case you were wondering. I've got an hour left here before my connection to Portland. DH has already called asking how to turn the alarm system on when he leaves. And then again to ask how to turn it off when he gets back. And then again to ask if I asked the neighbor to grab a package off our front step that is supposed to be delivered this afternoon (he's racing about 3 hours north of town). That boy.

Kathryn, I had copied your post a month or so ago about places in Portland into a word document, so last night was locating them on google maps and trying to make a plan. Planning on taking the train from the airport downtown when I get in, but if the weather is yucky I might splurge and uber - it's a 7 block walk from train station to hotel.

Liz, nice run! I'd like to get 16-18 this weekend, then maybe a 20 miler middle of next week before tapering for Boston. We will see though, I'm not going to push it if it seems too much.

Susan, after a mini-vacation it's always good to ease back into things! No race, organizer conference for my running group.

Diane, so excited for you! You are going to do great. I'm not laughing at your taper crazy at all......

Sandy, nice on the weekday morning 12! Yikes on your sister's finger, good she got it checked out.

Cathy, if I don't get back on here, have fun and stay warm at the 5K Sunday! Tell DD we're proud of her and congrats.

So I was going to be getting home Tuesday morning to an empty house (taking the redeye), but DH moved his trip back a week so will be gone the following week now. I just learned a couple days ago his trip is to Boston - we were trying to figure out how to get him there for the marathon, but apparently they are really awful about letting you mix work travel and personal. Anyway, at least DH will be able to pick up Riley on Monday morning so I don't have to worry about it Tuesday morning at least, I can just get home and sleep.

And they changed my gate. Off to find the train to get me from terminal C to terminal N.

Was able to get to the grocery at lunch. Woohoo! Glad that is done. I dropped the groceries off at home and HCBF was there! That was a surprise Smile I didn't want to leave haha.

Ready to go home and start this weekend!

Susan – I make veggies that HCBF won’t eat when he is not at home, too Smile

Diane – The temps look great without the wind. I guess you can’t do much about it! LOL “long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs” – never heard that expression before. Taper madness is a real thing. Take lots of pictures and GOOD LUCK!!

Sandy – WOOOOHOOO High five on getting that 12 done this morning!! AND you get to WFH after?! LUCKY YOU. I am green with envy over here. What were your temps? My hands were freezing the second half of the run! Not sure why – 27 degrees shouldn’t cause that. Who knows. Your weekend sounds perfectttt! Hopefully no snow for your sake Smile No spaghetti for dinner. Trust me, I would have sent you a message this morning saying “OH YEAH..SPAGHETTI NIGHT” just so you knew about it Wink I am thinking maybe salmon or burgers. Do you have something fun planned for your hair apt??

Hey Cathy, I smell a blind date set up. LOL Wink

Cathy – Yay for short Fridays! I am green with envy over that, too! HCBF puts in a lot of time at his job. TOO much time and isn’t appreciated for it. He needs to move on. I can understand why a lot of managers have that opinion – but seriously – have you seen the job market these days? I hear more and more how people aren’t showing up, not doing their job when they are there and etc. Its hard to find good people! I would want to keep the ones I have! That’s just me though. Great idea for donations for the race but I agree with you – better to donate it BEFORE running Smile  Hooters huh? LOL. Yay for Kaitlyn running with you! Smile  Good luck on your 5K this weekend! That is a lot of work for a 5K – but you and Kaitlyn get to complete the medal! That’s excitingSmile  Oh and yes, sometimes I do feel super human.

Kathryn – Interesting about your day yesterday. If they had offered you a job, would you be interested? Maybe they are trying to recruit. That is exciting about your GF!! How convenient! Yum, I love paella. Have fun at the Indian Festival if you decide to go!

Karen – LOL at your DH!! Smile He needs you! I have a feeling you will do the 16-18 this weekend and the 20 next week. Because you are badass like that. Former Bad Ass

OMG so glad it's a Friday!  I am so tired of this week!  I kind of won the motion but I lost it and now Washington decides how much I'm going to be killed at the continued hearing.  Anyway, glad that is over.  But at 4pm, a huge case was filed and it's mine.  never seen something that big.  I assume my "mentor" will want to take over as it's huge ($136 million) but whatever, until he comes back next month, I'm going to assume it's mine, haha.

Liz, nice 15! Oh, I am sure it is a mixture of asthma and the tiredness.  I also find that on cutback weeks, I tend to feel like shit, vs weeks of high mileage, so maybe it's also the feeling of coming off a drug (running)?

Susan, nice job on the walk and the run.  Sorry about the Strava issue.

                      Diane, good luck!

Sandy, nice run!! Thanks for the words. <3

Cathy, good luck on the 5K!

Kat, what kind of an asshole would do that without notice even?  Watch out for them!

Karen, gah.  Sounds like a lot of stress you don't need.  Have fun!  I am starting to wonder if KY will be cold and snowy by the time I'm there. In fact, I would prefer that than summer, nevermind.

For a short work week, this week seemed to drag on forever. I am beat. 9 miles after work with 6 at half-ish pace. Still windy and cold, I was standing on my front step waiting for my Garmin to connect & I decided to go back inside to change into a warmer top. Glad I did. I am still cold, think I'm going to go upstairs soon and turn up the heated mattress pad.

Lizzie, you and HCBF both need to find better jobs. Did they ever hire people at his job after getting rid of people?

Docket, wow, that's a lot of money.

DHuffman, Good luck! Are there trees or anything that will give a bit of relief from the wind?

KatS, ,that's pretty bold to come in to poach employees.

Lizzie-good title for the thread!!! I can't ever get over your early starts. Crazy! Yoga takes a bit to get into it and like anything else.. it's not for everyone. I went to Yin Yoga tonight which was very slow but it was good stretch class. That was the point. Hold stretching types of poses for minutes to really get into soft tissue. One of them I almost laughed... Yeah.. not going to happen. Fire Log Pose.  Instead of sitting cross legged, "indian style", you stack right ankle on top of left knee, right knee under left ankle with legs sort of flat on top of each other. A major hip opener. Not. Going. To. Happen.

Sue-3 mile run doesn't quite equal slug.

                          Diane-woohoo!! get some sleep girl!

Sandy-I was really into yoga at the time my mom had passed away. I used many of the relaxation types of things the teachers would say during her final days. Seemed to help her relax.
