Wonderful Weekend (Over 40) (Read 21 times)

Finally had a cooler morning here!  Maybe 70F and lower humidity.  Had a great 8 mile run with the group this morning.  Made it to church on time, and waxed the car when I got home.  She needs to look good for her 200K birthday that should happen before the end of the month.  Wink

Have a great day!!  Geaux Saints!

Run to live; live to run

Some days I just hate my stomach. I will never understand it. It woke me with bad cramps at 230. Finally was okay by 7 ish. So I ran on a completely empty system. I didn't eat different stuff. It just does this sometimes. But, at least I knew I wouldn't have to stop for certain!

Dad's wife called me before my run. Dad is at the hospital but she wouldn't tell me why. I'm guessing it was something silly as she just said she would tell me this afternoon. Well 330 and still no phone call so who knows. I hamstered by the house for the entire run so dh could easily find more if she called. I'm sure some people thought I was nutso as many times as I passed their homes.

Gatsby Hammy had a great time at the pool. He swam with a toy football the entire time. He was determined he was taking it home. Very disappointed when they took it and put it away as we were finishing drying him off. He played with it while I was drying him too. Silly pup.

Karen you have become a very good racer. So happy for you!

Ginny you should be proud if the GKids.

Laura no chill here. It was upper 80s my entire run. With heat index, well, it was in the mid 90s. But they say we may have a cooler winter than normal so we will see.

Damaris do you think the asthma flares are from going back to meat?  You were doing so well

Cindy glad you enjoyed the movie.

Apparently yesterday took quite a bit out of me. I was in bed by 10 and didn't get up until 8:30 this morning! Then I messed around for awhile so didn't get out the door to run my 18 until 10. Luckily we are having beautiful fall-like temperatures with low humidity, so even finishing up around 1, it was still only in the low 70s. Nice.

Carol, that stinks on the wedding drama. Hopefully they can figure something out that will make them both happy. And hopefully they can both remember that this is just one day in the many years they will spend together. And on a different note, hopefully you're feeling better.

Linda, sounds like you're feeling better - that's good. Yesterday we were at the bike shop (DH now thinks he needs to replace his bike with a custom frame) and we were talking about DH's experience in urgent care after his crash last weekend. One guy said that the way to get in quickly in urgent care or emergency is to say you think you have a staph infection - they whisk you right in and clean up behind you. I couldn't help but think of your troubles, so I'm glad you're doing better.

Gatsby, way to hang on on the long run. And yes, running out of ice cream is about the only reason you absolutely need to go to the grocery store.

Ginny, your granddaughters sound awesome. You should be proud, and you can come here and brag anytime you want. Also, that 5:58 pace was just for the last 20 seconds of the race and about killed me - I'm not really that fast.

Damaris, second Tessa's suggestion of finding a 50 miler that also has a 100 for the longer time limit. Or another option is a timed race - I've only done a 6 hour, but it was a lot of fun, and I think I'd like to do a 12 and maybe a 24 hour in the future. Hope your MP run today went well.

Susan, your post made me tired just reading it! Sounds like you got a lot accomplished yesterday.

Marjorie, thinking about Hammy and puppy pool just makes me smile. Sorry your stomach was acting up. And your dad too, for that matter. Hope there is nothing serious wrong with him.

Laura, hope you are having/had fun at the Tigers game! Bet DS is excited about that.

Tessa, how did long run with MM go? And do you know yet when DH will be coming home?

Cindy, nice date night! DH and I went to dinner after the bike shop last night. We went to IHOP. We're not very good at date night.

I'm hoping I can convince DH we should go out to dinner again tonight, but he left pretty early for his team ride and still isn't home so will probably be tired. I did pick up a movie at redbox to watch tonight - 42. And I have a proofreading/editing "test" that I need to get done to email back tomorrow for the potential job. This finding a job thing is a lot of work!

he will stay in the hospital overnight to get his pain back under control. Also monitor his heart. He somehow took too many bp meds.

Thanks, ladies.  There is a 12 hour race here but I'll see how my multiple marathoning is going at that time to decide.

DId 18 miles with the last 10 @ MP.  It was 93F and 77DP so my asthma was not very good but it was 93F and 77DP and I hit my paces, so there is hope!

I cannot believe they didn't tell you until recently.  Glad to hear he is OK.

Not sure if it's due to meat, but my asthma flareups started after a particular allergy shot so I think it's the allergens around.

Damaris-on the 50 mile race along with 100 miler.. when looking at them make sure that you look at the start times for the races. At Run Woodstock they have 5, half, marathon, 50k, 50m, 100k, and 100mile distances. Sounds like no problem time wise on that 50 until you look at the 100k and 100m starting at 4pm Friday night with the 50k and 50m starting in the morning.

Marjorie-If I can help with anything here let me know. I'm sure that you've already done this but let wife know how worried you were and that just simple messages throughout day would alleviate.

Karen-yes, you are that fast. damn you. LOL

Went and restarted my Planet Fitness membership so that I can get some non-impact cardio going again. With school drop offs the work gym doesn't work out well but PF is open 24 hours/7 days a week now. Once I'm done with PT I'll also meet with a trainer there where they will go through equipment with me, my goals, and work up a regime. They don't continue as a trainer but they do have some set times where they focus on specific areas.  Should help.

Knee was just throbbing Friday night, still fairly sore Sat but after that walk it seemed a bit better. Just rolled on Sat. but today did my homework then went to the gym. Hit the elliptical, bike and arc trainer -15 minutes on each with 10 walking really slow on tm. Felt good to get heart rate up a bit even if not too high.
