8.2 wet miles for me. No abs tonight due to wedding crap.

Pretty good run this morning but that is because it was raining Smile Really humid and gross the first 4 miles..but then the rain came. I thought I saw lighting so I did multiple loops around the house just in case.

We are in for the EXACT same weather we had last week. IT SUCKS. Humid as shit and rain rain rain rain. I AM SO OVER IT! I know Fall is coming soon and I have to wait..but at LEAST stop with the freakin rain!

Florist appointment tonight. We only have one..I cancelled the second one since it is on the other side of town and the weather is going to SUCK. My wedding planner seems to think that the one we are meeting with tonight, will be the perfect fit. She was right about the photographer so I have a feeling it will go well Smile My mom wants to interview several people, so if HCF and I like the one today, we will tell my mom to meet with others on her own Smile Okay, so I am doing a lot of wedding venting. SORRY. It consumes me these days...

Diane – We must be getting your weather! Smart to go to the treadmill. Nice running this week! I always carry mace..HCF might have talked me into to carrying something else…I don’t know how that would work yet but I am going to look into it.

Kathryn – Ew, I would not want to leave the house either in that kind of weather! I hope you had a busy workday yesterday so that it flew by!

Docket – Hope the 12 went okay last night!

Laura – Oh boy you must have really ran hard on Saturday! Hope you are feeling better today. I think when I take a break after Richmond Marathon…I am going to concentrate on shorter distance races. Same with after Toledo.

Cathy – Wow, nice running this weekend! Especially yesterday with the hilly one Smile Hope the bloodwork turns out okay. Just the usual check up stuff? I haven’t had a check up in years. I really should. I have a heart murmur that is supposed to be looked at every year. I could also use a new prescription for Xanax. LOL. Its hard to find a good doctor! I am happy to hear that this plan is working out for you! I guess the real test will be November. I don’t drink as much water as I should on runs either.

Run4kupcakes – Nice running this weekend. Enjoy the week without DH! Smile

Karen – Nice 13 yesterday!! UGGGHH that’s so HHOTTTT. Nice that you had a shadey route! Do you normally wear padded bike shorts?? They look so weird..almost like they would be uncomfortable. LOL at the speakers. Well, now you know Smile I guess presentations are a bit easier when you know what you are talking about. I always find that at work, they ask you to give presentations on things you don’t really know about..to a group of people who know a lot about it. At least in my experience. NOOOO. Haha. Really wish I was a part of your group!

Carol – I think you should pull something together for your area!!! You would be good at that Smile And now youll have some extra time on your hands Smile Don’t freak out over that  last day of work..be excited!! Lots of new adventures to come Smile  I love alone runs Smile

Oh, something I have been thinking about..getting a part time job. It would help with wedding. I was doing self checkout the other day at Kroger, and they offered me a job. LOL! They said I was fast Smile I am really considering it..maybe just like 20 hours a week. I used to work 2 jobs...it got annoying at times but the extra dough was NICE.

      Happy Monday all!

      Trails

I could possibly carry mine but I can't bring it to work or even leave it in the car when I'm here as it's tribal land.  In KC I can't bring it in the casino and don't want to leave it in the hotel room even in the safe and since I'm driving a govt car...the logistics are just too annoying when I can carry my mace...and I bite.

Too bad all the upfront wedding stuff is such a hassle.

        Hi to everyone.

        Docket_Rocket

Damn it, now I want cheesecake!

          I have 7 miles tonight.

Liz, "wedding crap", LMFAO.  Nice run.

Diane, I am the same with my gun.  Can't carry it to work, so it remains in the car.  Can't carry the mace either.

I haven’t read the weekend posts yet.  I ran 6 miles yesterday and 3 othis morning!  I never run 2 in a row!   Trainer would have been a group and I have a personal tomorrow at 6a.m, so I opted for run today instead of group.  I’m spoiled with the personals.

Wow Liz another job?  When would you sleep?  Seems you are either running or working!  It’s the mom in me worrying about you spreading yourself too thin.  You have to have time for fun too,

karen, I sent you a private message on FB this morning .

i did get new running shoes!  Tried on lots and ended up with New Balance.  They are called running course and just sold in running stores according to the young lady who helped me.  She was very helpful and I can return if they don’t work for me.  They didn’t have the Saucony Kinvara in stock in my size, so I might order online and try them again too.  No matter what shoe I try my right 4th toe hits somewhere funny and hurts, I can’t tell you how many times I have lost that nail!  I don’t know how to solve the problem

HCK – oh my gosh I’m cracking up at you sneaking the food scale upstairs to weigh the drippy clothes!  I'd be willing to bet DH wouldn't mind you stripping in the kitchen LOL

Laura – congrats on the race, speedy!  That’s awesome you were faster than last year!  Glad you had such perfect weather.  And then got all prettied up for the show!  The movie?  The theater production is actually going on here right now.  Oh oh, is the humidity back in your area?  Way to get some miles in anyway.

Carol – 40 to 60 miles on the bike at ONE TIME?!  Oh wow, that’s tough.  I’ve only done 50miles once.  Congrats on retirement!  Oh man, I cannot wait for that day.  In like 15 years if it even gets to happen.  Enjoy!!

Gatsby – puhlease.  You do NOT get the slacker award the week after the 50miler ya goof.  Glad you have been recovering well!  Oh, no, I do not have a comfy bike seat.  My bum and lady bits were plenty sore yesterday.  I do have bike shorts but do not wear them often.  You do sorta get used to if if you ride often enough.  What a GREAT picture of you!  And at mile 30?!!  Dang!!

Tessa – great race report!  Sounds like the 25K was plenty challenging.  Congrats!  Are you headed home this week?  Safe travels!

Lizzie – glad Bob’s boil was a success!  Little E sounds adorable.  Hope you got lots of naps in yesterday!  Hooray for finding a photographer.  Sometimes I think it’s okay to spend a bit more to get exactly what you are looking for.  At the end of the day are you really going to miss the extra $$.  Hope the florist goes well this afternoon.  Gosh you are getting all sorts of things checked off the list – that is awesome!  Oh and great run this morning, too.  You have my sympathy with your weather.  It would make me cranky.  Oh!  I thought of you and Karen recently…  Super Value (which owns Cub Foods a major grocery store chain in this area) sold their grocery business.  Talk is of maybe Kroger coming to town.  20 hours a week of a part-time job?  Oh man, how in the WORLD can you do that with all the running??

Diane – nice job getting the miles in!  You know that sweat loss is water and not true weight loss, right?  What sort of Japanese food do you like?  Hope KC isn’t too bad – safe travels!!

Kat – too tired to get up and get another glass of wine?!!  LOL  I get it.  Don’t you sometimes wish the beasts could do the refill?  Maybe that’s just me.  Oh man, meet up outside in 100*?  I would have passed that one up, too.

Cathy – GREAT running this weekend!  Man, that hilly 11 after your 6 sounds like it would be tough.  School shopping already?  True, we DID put up with a crappy winter.  And I am enjoying this weather now to the MAX!

Karen – oh wow on your 13miles!  Awesome awesome job getting it done in that weather.  Whew!  I’m going to wait to do the sweat test until it’s nasty here again.  Probably next week.

Damaris – have a great 7!  You keep a gun in your car??  OMG that is so foreign to me.

Ginny – awesome running!!  I had the same thoughts about Lizzie and her 2nd job and I’m not even a mom.  Hooray for new running shoes!  That’ll help bring the mojo back.  They look pretty shwanky, too!  How is your little finger?

Just a 4mi walk and 7mi bike ride yesterday.  Sunday RB really wanted to walk instead of run.  I don’t mind walking but not when I should be running.  Yes, I could have done more after but the legs were pretty tired from all the biking I’m not really used to.  Rest day today per the usual Monday schedule.

Friend dropped by Sat eve.  Fun to catch up but she kept delaying her arrival and didn’t end up getting there until almost 8pm.  I could barely stay awake!  She’s somewhat newly divorced and I think when she doesn’t have her kid she likes to keep busy so I didn’t want to say ‘no’.  Plus I’m the only weirdo that doesn’t like to be out late on a Saturday.  Yesterday was just laundry and vacuum, a little patio sitting and lots of watching Suits on Amazon Prime.  Still no word on the Jeep.  Sure hope I can get it back this week.  I’m super grateful to the friend that has been bringing me to work but it’s hard to be on someone else’s schedule.  She tells me to be ready at 7, then at 6:50 says it’ll be 7:15, then at 7:10 it’s 7:30 LOL  I guess I just wish she could have said 7:30 to begin with!  Gah, now I’m whining.  Have a good Monday!

              Running with the Turtles

Rest day today!  Got my blood test done this morning, blood pressure looked good, low as ever.  This will be an easier week for me, the girls only have afternoon tennis lessons and my friend is on vacation so we do not need to walk her dogs this week.  I can even sleep in!     We took the kids to a county fair yesterday, it was a beautiful day for it.  I was actually craving cheesecake yesterday, but they had stuff like Fried Oreos at the fair.

Lizzie, nice rainy miles!  Don't look at our weather this week.    It looks like the heat will be back for DD's next trail race on Saturday, of course.  Keeping an eye on what the humidity will be like!  Hope the florist appt goes well, it sounds promising!  Hopefully as things get nailed down for your wedding then your mom will back off.     You do run at some odd times, so carrying extra protection is probably a good idea!   Yeah, my blood test was for my health insurance.  We get a discount on our premiums for doing blood work and a health survey.  In a few months I will have to get biometrics done for DH's health insurance.  But they actually give you a VISA gift card if your numbers are good!  I will probably get a full physical next year since I will be 50.  Lots of fun things to do test-wise when you're 50.    Wow, you will be a busy lady if you take on a part-time job!  Don't overdo it.

Ginny, nice running!  Is the toe next to your big toe the one that gives you issues?  I have problems with that one too, as well as the one next to it, since my middle toe is actually my longest one!

Sandy, switching up your routine with biking will probably do you good!  That is pretty late for your friend to come over.    Haha, I am also a weirdo that doesn't like to stay up late on Saturday.  The family was outside doing a bonfire in the backyard until about 11:00, I had gone to bed earlier since I had to get up and run in the morning.  I finished my run and took a shower and everyone was still sleeping!  I hope you hear about your jeep soon!

Diane, I hear you, I started working when I was 10.  My parents had a carry-out Chinese restaurant.  I've been on call since I graduated from college.  I can't wait to be done with that.  I don't even know how it would feel to not have to plan things around being on call.    Nice miles for the week!

Carol, wow, your last day of work is tomorrow?  Congrats!  The cool thing is that you can choose to do something else, on your own time!  I bet you will love it.  That would be great if you could start a running group!

Karen, nice miles this past week in that crappy weather!  Well, the plan does give me leeway with the suggested duration/paces.  I just choose to follow exactly what it says.    I could round things up or down.  I may do that with the long runs going forward.

Kupcakes, sounds like a fun workout!  Not in heat though.     Haha, yeah, I don't think your DH would mind if you do the kitchen scale experiment while he is around.

Happy Monday - I'm going to try to keep a positive attitude.  At least it is almost half way over lol

3 for me this morning, much easier than yesterday but likely because the temp was cool.

Lizzie - ugh on the humidity, I will send you our morning weather!!  Hope the appointment goes well tonight.  I have thought about another part time job, as well but I don't know if I could handle it.  The $$ would be nice though!

                  Hi Diane!

                  Damaris - have a good 7 later!

                  Ginny - great running!!

Sandy - we went to the movies, it was a great show!  I actually stayed up until midnight Saturday night...usually I am like you and am falling asleep at 8 pm!

Cathy  - enjoy your week, it is so nice when things slow down!

                  WINE o'clock somewhere!

Happy Monday all!  It's my only day off this week, so I don't mind it.  Nothing to do, so I might clean.  I overspent this payperiod, so free activities are key.

Lizzie, what are your colors??? I hope the florist meets your needs and more.  Glad the run was good, even in the rain.  TWO JOBS, you're crazy.  You need time for yourself, running, and of course HCF.  And Ruger.

Diane, thanks for the training plan.  I will check it out and tweak it to what I can do.

Damaris, get a good run in tonight!

Ginny, hope the new kicks are a good buy!

Sandy, I ALWAYS wish those lazy damn dogs would get off their butts and serve me as I serve them...  But I bet every pet owner thinks the same, Wink  I can't believe you don't even have word on your jeep.  I hope they fix it OK.  Car payments SUCK.  I bet your friend greatly appreciated hanging with gramma on Saturday.

                    Cathy, enjoy your rest day.

Laura, glad your day is halfway done.

Work yesterday was slow, but I had a great crew to work with.  At least I wasn't exhausted after like Saturday.  I was able to get up and refill my glass.  I work every day this week.  But since the weekdays are only 2 hours, I can't really complain in any way...

Walked 3 miles in the heat today, about 85 out.  Not too bad I suppose.  I need to up my miles dramatically.

Question to the ultra runners.   As most know, I am (foolishly) doing the 50miler at Brazos Bend Dec 8th.  I looked at a training plan Diane forwarded me and it has at least one 30 miler in there.  I know the easiest way for me and motivation is to do a training 50K.  The ONLY one I found that I can do is on Nov 17th.  Is that too close??  I am going to be doing a ton of walking.

I have only done one 50K so I might be crazy, but I don't think the 50K is too close to the 50 miler.  in fact, it could be your longest training run before the race on your peak week.

You can also find a marathon instead.  There is not much difference.  You could try doing the marathon and then the extra miles either that night or right after the race.

                      Cupcake Connoisseur

Today…has been awful. Not to vent about this shit again – but my dad sent me a very hurtful email about the wedding. Basically saying every decision needs to be made with them since they are paying. They have to “approve”. W.T.F. They are upset because the photographer is over the budget, but HCF and I have offered to pay the difference (how much ever it is over the budget). We actually offered to pay for any additional costs that are over the budget. I believe my dads quote was..”remember whose money your spending”. So I have spent a lot of time crying today. And I told them we don’t want their money. I am not doing this over and over and over again.. After I had sent my response, my mom texted me and said "you said some very hurtful things to your parents". WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its always my fault! I am done. I can't do this anymore!!!  I don’t even want to get married at this point. Sorry, end rant.

On the topic of a second job – it might be necessary. I would definitely run myself thin..but I might need the money!

Ginny – Yay for awesome runs 2 days in a row! I saw your new running shoes on FB! I really like them. I have been wanting to try out some New Balances -you will have to let me know how they work for you. I use Kinvaras sometimes for my gym workouts! That’s weird about the toe.

Sandy – I think walking yesterday was perfectly acceptable after that bike ride you did Saturday, silly. If I had a friend coming at 8pm…I would have to have something to keep me awake! You are sweet for staying up and being there for her. Good lord on the Jeep! I hope you hear something soon! Speaking of stripping in the kitchen..I stripped in the garage this morning after my rainy run. So when I walked upstairs HCF was just getting up..and he was like “oooooo” and I said “don’t even think about it” LOL! Wink I hope you get a Kroger!! They have awesome coupons online Smile You can just load them to your card and go. You get gas rewards too. Yesterday I filled up with .70c off! Which is good since I get mid-grade. If you ever get your cat to get you a refill of beer – we are going to need to see a picture.

Cathy – Please tell me you got the fried oreos?! MMMMMM. Hope all comes back well on the blood work! That is a really cool incentive for getting things checked. All health insurance places should do that! As long as you don’t feel “50” then that is all that matters  Smile Are you running with DD on Saturday? Or does she want to do this solo  Smile

Laura – Nice cool miles this morning. I hate you. LOL. You are so busy I don’t know if you would have the time for a part time job! I feel like you are always doing something. See, that’s what happens when you procreate  Smile

Kathryn – Yay for a day off!!! I don’t really know my colors yet. Probably plum, with some rosey pinks and blues! I am hoping the florist can help me with colors. Nice job getting a walk in! I don’t think the 50K would be too close. I am not an ultrarunner though. Wink I agree with Damaris!!

                        Talk with you ladies later!

                        WINE o'clock somewhere!

Oh Lizzie, I am so sorry.  That is really difficult.  BIG HUGS.  I think your parents are being a "bit" controlling.  I get they are footing the bill, but in the end it is your day, why can't they be a bit more open to your happiness.  Maybe something small and simple instead and without their help?  Destination wedding just the two of you and small reception at a later date?  I am sure you have been all through this with HCF.  Just BIG HUGS.

Damaris, I have looked at marathons too.  There is only one other which a week earlier.  A road one with very few finishers, maybe 15.  At least the one on the 17th is a big one.  4 loops, which isn't my fav, but I remember it being a nice race when I did the 10K.  Also a very generous cutoff as there is a 50miler that day as well.  Plus the medals are so cool...  At least they were 2 yrs ago.

Today has been a productive day so far!  I took a nap.  HAH!!!!!

I am glad I didn't read this until after going to the grocery store this morning, or I'd have cheesecake in the house.

Kat, I just looked up my training for my first 50 miler in 2012. I did two 50ks, one 5 weeks out and one 3 weeks out. After the one 3 weeks out the longest I ran was 10, so a pretty drastic taper. I was fine for the 50. Okay, fine is an overstatement, it was my first 50 miler and it hurt like hell mentally and physically at the end, but I don't think the 50k three weeks out hurt me.

Liz, I hope the florist appointment goes well. i like your idea of letting your mom meet with other florists - keeps her occupied and feeling like she's helping. Yet distracting her at the same time. Wedding planning can be hard on everyone involved. Pick your battles and what is most important to you (like the photographer, the colors) and throw your mom a bone. At least in my case, I felt like I owed her that much since the they were paying for the wedding, plus my sister got married in St. Louis so I would be the only daughter getting married in the hometown. I almost felt like this was their party as well as mine, so if something wasn't a huge deal for me, I'd give my mom a little win here and there. Sorry, enough about me, this is YOUR wedding and your day! Yes, big difference in giving presentations if you know and are comfortable with what you are talking about! As for working at Kroger, you'd be good at it, but remember the managers are used to dealing with employees less reliable and intelligent than you, so expect some amount of pettiness, micromanaging, etc. (grocery store cashier was my first "real" job at 16). Then again, you're sadly kinda used to that with mammal.

Ginny, awesome on running two days in a row. I like NB shoes - haven't run in them recently but they were my favorite shoe last summer.

Speaking of shoes, I wonder when my new Brooks Glycerins will be in, it's been a week and a half. I can't complain about it though, since they're giving them to me for free.

Sandy, you are not the only weirdo that doesn't like to be out late on Saturday. Who am I kidding, for me it's any day. Heck, I get annoyed when DH starts a movie after 9 pm.

Cathy, Monday rest days seem to be the thing around here. You, Sandy, probably me. Nice that you've got a pretty relaxing week coming up. When do your girls have to go back to school? I think we go late August here, but I've heard of some places starting as soon as next week!

Laura, it is amazing how much difference decent weather can make. Not only in pace, but in hard it is to do.

Diane, hope your week in KC goes quickly!

Damaris, enjoy the 7. Good idea, a marathon with a few extra miles (or even just a marathon) would work for Kathryn too. Especially if it was a difficult marathon, knowing her 50 miler is going to be on super easy trails.

I'm mostly just doing chores today. I think I'll get on the bike trainer for a bit this afternoon, and if I'm really feeling energetic, follow it up with a couple miles on the TM. Who asked if I wore padded bike shorts? Yes, yes I do. They may look a little funny, but keep in mind when I ride I usually have a 6'4" guy riding with me, decked out in full spandex. I don't think I'm the one people are mocking..... Or with my tri bike or on a shorter ride I can do tri shorts, which have much smaller padding and really just look like running shorts.

Time to put my chicken and potatoes in the crockpot and start the next load of laundry. Who knows what kind of things I'll decide to do after that.

Liz, I'm sorry about all this shit.  I think you guys should just fly to Vegas and fuck everybody else.  Not worth all this stress on what's supposed to be YOUR DAY.

Oh Lizzie, I posted and then saw your post ahead of mine. I am so sorry. It does sound like the parents are being a bit controlling. Also remember emails and texts are more convenient, but they can make conversations almost worse in a way because you can't hear the other person's intent or see their face. I am probably not helping at all, so I will just say I'm really sorry you're going through this and I hope things get better. And feel free to vent to us as much as you want. We're here for you.
