Note: if I disappear on and off, please don’t worry. I’m getting a huge update for my computer on a relatively slow connection and may be on and off periodically for quite a while. If all else fails, I can connect from my library.

DHUFFMAN63, I’m interested in the Little Buddha daily thing (is the name correct?)

Tuesday the weather was even warmer than Monday, so I ran 60 minutes. The bridge and trail were clear with only a small amount of snow in tiny patches. Snow and puddles helped to clean my shoe treads when I tip toed through mud.  I forgot to mention that yesterday I saw coyote tracks in the snow! I’m glad they are staying around. I know they were coyote tracks because they were in the fenced off area where dogs and people are definitely not allowed to be. It was such a joy to be outside.

Today I will probably have to do gym or TM here. I’ve been getting in some yoga and meditation.

      Safe and happy runs, All!

9.2 speed work miles for me. I did 6x .50mi/w .30 rest. It sucked.

Not too bad of a run this morning I just hate that interval routine. Probably because its hard. LOL. I was about 9:01 for most intervals. Not sure if that is good or bad. Took me a while to wake up out there..but once those intervals started I was good haha.

Had a mini freak out this morning. I was rounding one of the cul-de-sacs and this SUV came FLYING down. Same style and year of the SUV that has been sitting at the front of our cul-de-sac. I didn't see the license plate so I wasn't 100% sure but I hid in the woods for a minute while the car turned around. Could have been nothing but it freaked me out a little.

Update on the dog mauling - apparently there was severe neglect towards the end. They would be in a crate for most if not all day...and feedings were missed...that ticks me off too. Don't get a dog if you aren't going to take care of it! Such a sad situation regardless.

Tessa – LOL! You were on a roll yesterday! I need to meet you.

HuronHeart – Congrats on the last Tuesday meeting! This is the layoff thing you were talking about a while back, right? That is so awful about the house fire. Sad  LOL at your treadmill interval comment to Laura – SO TRUE. I used to love doing intervals on the treadmill..only because it made the time go by faster!

Margaret – I hope you get picked!!! I usually do the same – add in lowlights. I haven’t been a full on brunette in a LONG time. Figured maybe it was time to switch it up Smile I am real picky about it though – I have to have some sort of highlight in there so it doesn’t look so flat. If that makes sense. Totally understand not wanting to change people. I am interested to see how this new salon and stylist work out. I did a lot of research and Facebook stalking. LOL.

Docket and Kathryn – I will so go to Vegas with both of you to see that show!!!!

Judy – We don’t want you disappearing on us Smile Wow on the coyotes. Do you know what to do if you encounter one?

Oh, so baby Emerson is having some issues. He is having some kidney problems...he is getting more tests done but I am hoping that this isn't kidney dysplasia. Sad

Off to do some audits to keep busy. I dont want to be here though...UUUGGGHHH

        Happy Wednesday

Judy, good luck with the PC upgrade.  The book is actually called "Tiny Buddha's 365 Tiny Love Challenges" by Lori Deschene.  She runs a website called tinybuddha.com.  I sometimes go there when I'm feeling sad or not happy with my self.  I also have her Gratitude Journal which has coloring pages that I find meditative and so childlike.

I can post either here under the dailies or on a new thread each day.  I'm ok with either.

Lizzie, so scary, good you can hide out.  Poor dogs.  They don't ask to be treated that way.

I have my semi annual teeth cleaning this morning and some bloodwork so will be in late.  Did 40 min on TM last night.  Working on getting back into a routine.

Lizzie, about coyotes, I have been very close to them when they cross the trail in front of me or are in their own territory close to the den (fenced off to keep the humans out but allows them to roam at will). They are not curious like dogs and deer so they will just keep going about their business if they see us. They are NOT fearful of us at all. If I see one separately, I just keep going on my way. We have some feral cats in the park, and I would not approach one of them either. However, if I saw the pack, I’d leave the area right away. This is in a park and trail area. In the suburbs, things are different. They like to take up residence under decks of homes, so it is a safety issue for kids and pets.

Good Morning, we've made it to Wednesday...I just have to get through today and tomorrow and then I have 10 days off, thank goodness!!

2 on the TM and leg workout.

Hi Judy - glad the weather warmed up and you had a nice outdoor run!

Lizzie- your morning runs are so inspiring, great job!!  That is freaky about the SUV, did the police ever check on the car that's been sitting there?  Awful about the dogs and the mauling.  Awww, hope  baby Emerson will be okay.

              Diane - nice TM workout!

              Seloc

Kat – 76*?!!  Wow that sounds lovely.  Glad you are feeling better but no sense losing a lung!  Take it easy, chica.

Gatsby – good luck on the race lottery!  50miles.  Oh boy.  26.2 is far enough for this chick at this point.  Heading just north of ZIH on Sat.  Not a resort.  This is a very seasoned, low budget group of travelers.  About 15 of us rented a place on the beach with a pool.  Really looking forward to some warmer temps!  Hey – are you still planning SA for 2018?

HH – wow, the countdown is on!  That’s cool about the consulting – do you at least get to dial back your hours a bit right away?  OMG, that is SO incredibly sad about the kids in the house fire!  OMG I cannot even imagine being those parents.  Simply heartbreaking.

Tessa – LOL on Thunder Down Under.  42* sounds LOVELY!  Nice morning run with RN.  Funny about the coupon for the Trojans LOL

Lizzie – that’s awesome you found a new hair place closer to you and less $$.  I hope it works out!  Always sorta scary to try someone new.  Gah!  I’m jealous you are watching the new season of Shameless!!  Man, I miss that show.  I need another binger.  I watched some goofy movie called Drinking Buddies last night.  Yeah, pot luck was better than I thought it was going to be since I work with all men as well.  There are 3 women (2 of us naturally born LOL) out of 35 here in the office.  The guy I sit next to (the one who sometimes smells like dirty bed sheets) is the one who organized it.  He made vegan chili that was really good!  Another guy brought calico beans, another dirty rice (basically rice and hamburger), another homemade bread, the Pakistani brought homemade Biryani (well, his wife made it).  We had quite the selection.  I was the only salad which I expected haha

Judy – thanks for the heads up so we don’t send a search party.  Glad you got a nice run in outside.  Yay for finally cleared paths – same here.  Too bad more snow is coming.  Ho hum.

Lizzie2 – LOL on the intervals sucking.  Yep, they are hard!  But, make you stronger.  Have you used the McMillan calculator for your paces?  Based on your recent marathon time, pretty sure you can hit those 1/2mi in about 3:40/3:45.  SCARY about that SUV!  Reminds me – on Sunday, my RB and I were on the side of the road with zero shoulder for just a few strides before turning the corner.  This car had turned into our lane and was seemingly headed right for us!  We had to hop up on the grass because he had snow and frost and never saw a thing.  Oh no, poor Emerson!  Sending good thoughts!

Diane – good luck with the doctors today and woohoo for the 40min last night!!

Laura – two more days, two more days.  You got this!

5mi with the group again this morning.  Even Joe, the golden doodle, joined us.  Just under 20* with a slight breeze.  SO NICE to have the paths mostly cleared.  I’d really like to get out again tomorrow but I think all the girls are going to this yoga class they keep telling me about.  So, I might do that instead.  Sounds like the big snow is mostly going to miss us and it’s headed toward Chicago instead.  Fine by me!

                RTurtles

                Running with the Turtles

4.5 with about 3 miles progressive on the TM this morning, going from easy pace down to about what used to be my half marathon pace.  Which feels more like my 5K pace now.    My ab challenge is up to 110 crunches, 44 leg raises, and 105 sec plank.  Feel the burn.

Judy, sounds like a wonderful outdoor run for you!

Lizzie, that is a lot of speedwork miles.    Well, if you go by Yasso 800's, which you are close to doing with 6 reps, then 9:00 is right on, about a 4:30 marathon.  I would be happy with that.    Seriously though, if you are running your intervals fairly evenly and are pushing then that is all that matters.    That does sound freaky about the SUV.  Be careful out there!  Oh no, I hope baby Emerson will be OK.  I haven't colored my hair in years.  I figure at some point I will need to do it to cover up the gray, so I might as well enjoy it while I can.    I  know what you mean about dark hair looking flat, it's like when people dye their hair black, you can tell it's not naturally black.  That's what I don't want.    Haha, I will mention Thunder Down Under to the kids and DH.  Suggestion from Liz.     Yeah, the dermatologist did the mole removal, my doctor told me to go to one.

Diane, looking forward to the daily thoughts.  Eating more veggies is tough.  I don't particularly like them myself.  Have you tried those small sweet peppers as a snack?  Those are good!

Laura, sounds like everyone is just trying to get through this week.    Do you have anything planned for your time off?

Sandy, nice miles with the group!  Our forecast has changed to about an inch of snow now.  But the big chill is still coming.    Sounds like an interesting potluck!  I had Biryani for lunch yesterday.

Tessa, I am not big on Vegas either, though walking through some of the casinos like the Venetian and New York, New York is interesting.  I am not big on gambling or shopping.  DH likes gambling so he can go out and we can go to sleep.    Thanks for the tip on Virgin River Gorge.  It looks beautiful!  Trying to figure out how much nature the kids will want to experience before they get bored.    Ha, thanks for the giggle.

HH-Kathy, yay on the last Tuesday meeting day!  Oh, that is really sad about the house fire.  My medical procedure was in network, but I have a high deductible health plan.  Though DH's insurance is secondary, so I am not sure how that works.  I will make the individual deductible for his health plan.

Margaret, haha, I hope you get picked for the 50 mile race.    You should be nominated to be a judge.  Yes, I did get the official diagnosis of PF back in early Dec.  He didn't have much advice for me except to do what I did last time to get rid of it.

Kat, hope you feel good enough to get outside today!

                    Docket_Rocket

Morning!  Ran the first 4 with hubby last night (run/walking with him but he was fast last night and he was doing his own set of fartleks) and then I left him in the dust for the last 2 of my run with 6 X 100m. I saw a 6:59mm on the first interval.  That felt nice.

I have 11 with 5 @ MP (most likely TM, as my knee has been wonky with the change of weather and I will be home later than normal).  If I get home too late from this deposition, I will switch with tomorrow, but hoping I can run it tonight.

Judy, hoping your computer works fine.

Lizzie, ugh.  Sounds like the dogs went crate crazy, which can happen. I am so sad they had to be euthanized.  Because of being pitbulls, they are not given much of a chance to see if they would go back to normal.  Nice run!

Diane, enjoy the TM and the appointments. A new thread with the question might be better, just because people might miss it here.

Laura, nice 2 and legs.  Good luck surviving the few days before your time off.

                      Sandy, nice 5.

Cathy, nice workout.  Little by little you'll recover the paces.

                      Vicki, hi!  Welcome back!

                      Damaris

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Hi, everyone! It seems that I still haven't recovered from that multi-day/night project; no amount of sleep seems enough, even when K is merciful w her wake-up schedules. Just feel like a zombie day after day. Skipped the run on Monday, floorball practice yesterday (sort of kind of okay-ish). Meeting tomorrow at 11am, which I'm totally not looking forward to - one of those cases when you're stuck at calculations and just have to say - I have smth here, but it's far from done. You know, when all seems to be there, but you're just missing that one link. Have to get over this slump somehow, and the meeting will either be a huge help or the opposite. Hoping it all ends well, w/o confidence it's, as DH would put it, supergrumpy Elina. Totally looking forward to only 3 days of work next wk.

Going for a run, hopefully at least 10k.

                        Trails

Oh no Lizzie, I hope Emerson doesn't have kidney issues.  Does it run in your family?  I have Chronic Kidney Disease and if I can't keep it under control I may have to have dialysis and/or a transplant.  So I watch my sodium carefully but mine was caused by my thyroid disease.

Hi Laura, sister in the TM world!

Sandy your beach trip sounds so nice right now.  It's been grey and rainy for the last few days and even tho it's 51 it's a damp one.  Supposed to get down to the 20's this weekend.  Not what this sun loving chick loves. Sandy I like doing my yoga stretches, especially now that I can actually put me feet down flat when doing the downward dog.

Judy I like the coyotes but because we have barn cats DH will scare them off when they are on the land with his shotgun.  Doesn't shoot them but I know the cattle ranchers around here do as they sometimes will kill a calf.  People with chickens don't like them either, altho raccoons and possums are the worst.

Cathy, I am so picky and that's part of the problem.  Onions make me vomit, I don't like spicy or hot things, can't stand veggies covered in cheese (kind of defeats the purpose). I like mostly raw or lightly steamed veggies such as raw carrots (never cooked), steamed broccoli, raw or steamed cauliflower, tomatoes, raw celery, potatoes, Brussels sprouts.  I do like them but when I get home, feed the dogs, so my workout the last thing I want to do is cook dinner.  Sigh.

Hi Vicki, nice to see you back.  Have fun in retirement.  Karen seems to be having a good time and is busy, busy.

Hi Damaris.  Thanks, I agree the new thread would work better and people can check/read or not as they wish.  I'm hoping by posting I'll be more consistent with keeping track of things.

Dental was good, hate the teeth cleaning but they always feel so nice after the soreness wears off.  Bid snafu with the bloodwork...system seems to have ate the request my doc put in so they had to call the kidney doc in Tulsa and get it faxed so the lab would have the orders.  The lab tech kept blaming my doc saying she didn't put them in but it turns out she did and the system "lost" them.  Small towns...lol.

                          kats

                          WINE o'clock somewhere!

Judy, sorry you are relegated to the TM/gym today.

Lizzie, I would be unnerved by the car too.  So sad about the dogs/mauling.  Oh no about baby Emerson, thinking good thoughts.

Diane, good on getting back into a routine.  I hope to follow suit.  Blech on the dental cleaning, glad it went OK.  Annoying on the lab work..

Laura, TEN DAYS!  Sweet for you.  Anything planned??

Sandy, 15!  Wow.  Bet it will be a blast.

Cathy, 110 crunches, I bow to thee.  I can't imagine ONE!

Vicki, welcome back and huge congrats to you!!!!!

Damaris, I love how you left DH in the dust, made me chuckle.  You are certainly getting back to speedy.

Elina, you have a little one, I think you are supposed to be sleep deprived.  I have been amazed at your energy after having her.  Amazing.

I got a short run/walk in, 2 miles total.   Felt remarkably OK to maybe even good...  Only 2 minor coughs out there.  Got home and immediately did try to hork up a lung.  Can't win em all.  Some cool (for me) days coming up.  Need to get out there again.  I am going to follow Margaret's plan loosely, sick to 50K in 6 weeks.  At least the race is 3 ten mile loops, I can easily drop.  Bandara 25K is in 3 weeks.  Gonna be one hilly/rocky mess.  After I am done with my "race" I am volunteering at one of the trail groups aid stations from 3-8.  My coworker is doing the 100K, so I might hang out longer to cheer him on.  It will be at mile 54 for him.

Made a pot roast last night in the crock pot, yummy.  Had it for breakfast.  Next up, bread.  I got a bread maker and haven't tried it out yet.  I used to have one years ago and loved it.  Fresh bread for egg salad sandwiches, yummy.

                            Happy Hump day.  Smile

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Elina, hope the meeting goes well.  And happy mini-K is letting you sleep at least a little bit.  Like Kat I am amazed at all you do.

Hi Kat, so Dragon's Milk for you!  I can only drink one and that one almost puts me on my ass.  I do like them tho.  I save mine for after my events.  I'll need to pick up some more soon.  Glad you are feeling well enough to get outside.
