Carrying water (Read 17 times)

    Hi Ladies,

Nice seeing all your posts here.

I had a question - how do you all carry water/nutrition on your runs/races?

    Which brand/model belt/vest?

    Thank you.

    .

        HI!

Depends on the distance for me.  I use a handheld that also carries my phone for short distances where I need little else. just can't get used to carrying the handheld. It always feels heavy or lopsided to me.

I really like my Amphipod belt because I can wear it without any bottles, just the pouch for a phone, or even no pouch with just the small pocket in the belt itself for a key or a gel.  Or I can add 1, 2, 3, 4, or more bottles to it.

For really long runs where I won't have ability to easily refill bottles, such as on a trail or on roads with few water access points, I wear a Nathan hydration pack.

My amphipod belt is what I wear most often. I like that it's basically a wide stretching band that adjust to wearing under jackets or over just a shirt, whatever.  Velcro and elastic basically so easily adjustable even during the run. Some people don't like having anything tight on them though.

I'm sort of a minimalist... I carry a handheld (either 16 or 20 oz) with a small pocket that fits a couple of GUs.  I also use a Amphipod belt with small pouch: http://www.amphipod.com/products/holders/day-of-race/airflow-microstretch-belt  It's probably similar to a spibelt -- fits my phone and more stuff to eat.   I even stuffed a Gu flask in this belt once for a race.

It will really depend on your preference/tolerance for carrying stuff vs. wearing stuff around your waist vs. wearing a pack.  It looks like you're training for a half marathon?  That's great!

I use a fuel belt for most of my long runs.  For races, it depends on the race, for shorter races, I don't carry anything, longer ones, I will sometimes carry my fuel belt.  I also have a handheld that I use for shorter runs, and trails, and a camelback for longer trail runs or hot summer days.
