Notes

3:11 with a yuge fade from half to finish. My cardiovascular fitness was where it needed to be but muscular endurance (which for me comes from months of consistent high mileage) was just not there. Knew from the opening miles that best case for me yesterday would be 3:05 which is how I paced until I fell off. I felt the slightest beginnings of leg fatigue at around 9 miles which means you are DONE for the marathon. Soldiered on with the hope of a 3:08 but developed leg cramps in both calves and had to walk for a bit at Mile Marker 24, 25 AND 26 (Whut? Couldn't keep running for just another .2 miles?! Nope.) I was 1:32 1st half / 1:39 2nd half. Ouch but I still enjoyed it, believe it or not! Blow-ups just aren't as painful to me as they used to be, thankfully. This was probably the first time I've had to walk in a marathon since maybe 9 or 10 marathons ago.

The weather was about as perfect as you could ask for. 41 Deg F at the start, no wind and overcast until about mile 9. After mile 9 we were almost exclusively running West so the sun was at our backs. I don't think the temp ever made to much more than low 50's at most. A missed opportunity there as with solid training it was very much a PR kind of day.
