Winds were about 9MPH coming from the NW so, as is usual, a breeze in your face for the final mile to the track. It felt very humid to me at the start of the race but I guess not too bad once you start moving. Legs felt good and Iheld back in the early stages of the race. It seemed I was always trying to pull back a little until the final 2 or 2 1/2 miles when it became harder to just hold the pace. So I think it was about right.
** They had a timing mat set out at 8K for Brian Pilchers attempt at 55-59 American Record attempt. He ran 26:38 which beat the previous record of 27:00 (Norm Green in 1990).
The also reported 8K times for all runners and mine was 29:59 which is a 54 second PR. I guess it's gonna have to be unofficial.
