I KNOW I could have run a little better. At the gun David Garza, Kevin Breit and Kristina Park took off with me right behind them. We stayed bunched together through the 1st lap (409m I heard '82' called out) and I thought "too slow". I also figured that Kevin and David, at the minimum, would start to pick it up as it was way slower than both of them are capable of. But at 600m nobody had started running faster and I was itching to pick it up some so I went past all three at 600m. David Garza was the only one who picked up the new pace. He went in front of me and we ran 1-2 the rest of the way. The 4th lap he started to pull away through the first turn but I was able to respond and come right up on him as we entered the last turn. I probably should have picked it up at that point but I didn't. When we came off the turn we both started sprinting and he put a second on me to get to the line first. It was pretty fun and it felt like real 'racing'. Lap 1 and even 2 felt pretty easy - I'm wondering if I should have run a little harder those first two?
