Pretty happy. I think this course is tougher than zippy. 1.5 miles of downhill and then turn it around. It is a stead, very noticeable uphill climb all the way back with a small break (downhill section) about .6 miles from the finish. I used that downhill break to just recover and then hit the last part of the race hard. I picked off a few people on the return back to the start. Portola road has a very heavy crown. Only half of the road is closed to traffic so you pretty much have to run on the shoulder for a good part of the race. Have to wait for the official time, it was chip timed, I probably get 1 second, so maybe an 18:41. On a course like Race for the Arts I could have run much better.
I felt really good after this race so I think I'm getting fit. I went for a longish run at Windy Hill Preserve (right off the course) as a cooldown and more workout. About 3.7miles of tough climbing and then 3.7miles of descent. Really good workout.
