Notes
I guess now I know where I stand. I had thought that I would be able to run around 2:08. I was in fifth position so I wasn't out in the barrel but I got a bad start and felt like I was trying to catch up the whole time. I also felt like I was not able to shift into the sprinting gear but my stamina is so much better than it used to be. It didn't help during the race, but I used to be exhausted after 800m races and this time I just walked off the track, put on my sweats, and went out for a 3 mile cool down.
A rough conversion suggests that I can run 400m in about 58 seconds. To get back to 1:59 I need to be able to run 400m in 52 seconds again which is a big ask but at least I know what to work on. Have to focus on getting both strength workouts and strides in to build up the strength before I start doing the quicker workouts in the spring/summer.
