Notes
Solo 10000m TT on Manhattan ms track- 37:55. I am a bit disappointed with the time although I am happy with the effort on the day which is what is important. I knew that as a worst case scenario I should be sub-38. I was hoping I could run the first 5k in about 18:45 and run a negative split off of that but I ended up running a positive split. First 5k in 18:51 and 2nd 5k in 19:04
The time lines up relatively closely with my other Boulder bests of 5:17, 10:39, 18:17 for 1 mile, 3k, 5k.
So I can't be too surprised or upset with today in particular, but accepting that I'm this slow right now is still a difficult pill to swallow.
I'm hoping it's just the effects of altitude, but deep down I can't believe that's the only thing going on. I ran more than 2 minutes faster on a humid 87 degree day in a solo 10k time trial back in March 2020. 5000ft of altitude shouldn't count for a 2:08 slowdown over 10k.
Once this omicron surge quiets down a little bit I'll go in for a full blood panel because maybe I've developed some kind of vitamin/mineral/hormonal imbalance in the past 8 months. That would certainly explain a lot.
