Baseline fitness test today before a more 3k-specific 6 week block.

3000m time trial- 10:38- PR for boulder's altitude by 1 second, previous best was 10:39 in January.

Wore Dragonfly spikes for the first time. Kinda regret it and think I would've been at least 5 seconds faster, maybe a lot faster in Vaporflys. The way the dragonfly spike is shaped makes it feel almost like a negative-drop shoe with the forefoot elevated above the heel when you are just standing in them. At least that is how it feels to me. I'm going to keep the spikes in case I ever race a 800m again but for anything slower than that, I heel strike too much for the dragonfly to make any sense. My footstrike felt awkward the entire time basically becoming the limiting factor in my performance as I couldn't seem to maintain form at a fast enough speed to stress my heart/lungs. Breathing was not labored until the last 600.

Shoe-talk aside, I just didn't feel very good today for whatever reason but I am still happy to have run faster, even if it is only 1 second than in January. Next time I race anything longer than a mile I'll be wearing Vaporflys.
