I did not want to do this race as the weather had been for shit all week but I really needed to get some sustained stress in at or near VO2 max so reluctantly I went.
The intended course had not been cleared of snow so there was a last minute course change making it a race of four .75 mile loops which obviously made it 3 miles instead of 3.1. That coupled with a half inch or snow during my warmup seriously had me contemplating not racing the stupid thing, as now the ice patches were covered.
I decided to stay and tough it out and really cannot complain despite never really being into it mentally. This was not a PR performance but given the conditions and circumstances I will take it and call it a quality workout, which is basically what it was.
