800 meter time trial in res with multiple purposes: 1. get my body adjusted to a faster pace before the 1200 next weekend, 2. pop open, and 3. probably most importantly a huge confidence booster. i knew coming in that i could PR by quite a bit in the 800 so i decided to do that instead of the 1000 that Al initially recommended. Jaskowiak decided to join me and we had kind of agreed that he would sit on me, for 400 at least, and then we would take off depending on how we felt, but i guess nick talked to him beforehand and told him to push the first quarter so he was on my side the first 200 in like 27low i think or something..not entirely sure on exact splits. anyhow, i let him take the lead and then i got into my rhythm and really engaged. i started to get really close to him on the back turn and i got too close on accident and clipped his spikes just barely. i guess his ankle had already been bothering him for a couple weeks, which i didnt know, but me accidentally clipping him caused him to land funny and his ankle started to hurt so he immediately dropped out and i went through the quarter in 57. i felt like a huge dick, but i kept going. i pushed the rest of the race obviously and started to really feel the lactic acid but i tried as hard as i ever have to keep good form, which i did. i felt smooth for basically the whole race and pushed through the muscle fatigue the last 200 to close in 59 and then ulitmately 1:56.9, which is a 3 second PR from high school. Great confidence booster going into natties that i can go through in like 2 flatish and still feel smooth and then kick. i have great momentum going so this next week will be fun for sure (EDIT: actual splits were 28.8, 29.7(58.5), 29.1 (1:27.5), 29.4 (1:56.9)
