Race went pretty well down at Detweiller. 1st time in my life that conditions were not fast down there. Course was actually sloppy and it continued to rain. Race got out surprisingly slow, so I led box to wire. I hit the mile in about 4:58, came through just about 10:02 or 3, then didn't hear splits until the finish. I assumed the next 3 miles were all around 5:05ish. Felt good through about a mile and a half before the week's training and mud started to add up. Luckily I had a big enough gap that when the chase pack made their move they didn't gain too much on me. First win at a decent sized meet since high school. Not too shabby to only be off my pr by 20 seconds on a slow day. Good first 8k cross-country race of the season.
