Notes
Tough race today. Knew my legs would be a bit tired, wasn't sure how fast I would feel. Expected not to have too many gears in the end which came pretty true. Got out in 4th the first 400 while coming through in 64. Spain led Brady out front, and then I passed Tim because he was slowing down so much. Stayed pretty close to that same 15 or 20 meters back of Brady and Spain until 400 to go. Came through the half in 2:10-11, then through the 1200 in 3:20ish. Couldn't hear anyone behind me yet and Brady and Spain were really starting to pick it up. I tried to keep picking up the pace but didn't have any explosive gears yet. Was pushing very hard when getting to the final straight I heard a heavy sigh on my shoulder. I knew it was Tim so I dug the best I could to get to the line without tying up too much more and getting passed. Barely held him off and apparently a slough of runners right behind him. A tough race effort for a long week and no speed work. Good baseline though to know I'm still not far off my pr without speed work. Continuing to get some positive momentum for the half marathon. Spain edged out Brady at the end in 4:18 for a tough day for them.
