10k at NCC last chance. The most perfect conditions I have raced in in a long time. It was 50 degrees and absolutely no wind. If I didn't at least PR this would be so disappointing. The first lap of the race was a little slow then things took off. Rylaarsdam was running 72s and I was running 74s. Eventually around the mile I turned to Diemer and asked if I should relax. I slowed down to 75s. I know I came through 2 miles in 10:01 and 3 miles in 15:07, 5k in 15:44-15:45. Started running 77s and was starting to hurt. With 2k to go, Diemer told me I was going to need around a 5:00 last mile to break 32. I think Diemer said my last mile was around 4:52 to get under in 31:54. Julian from Hope got me through from 1k to 600 to go which saved my butt. Could not thank him enough! Was so excited to make the stud list and run a 64 second PR. Rylaarsdam ran 31:16. Could not have asked for a better night! Not sure if I will run the 5k next week, I will have to see how my body recovers, but if this is my last race ever in a Calvin uniform, it was good way to go out! Splits were 15:45-16:09, so the not the splits I was looking for, but it got the job done. 44th on the stud list, so not last woot!!!
After watching the Periscope, my last mile was closer to 5:00, not 4:52...Diemer is just bad with math
