Notes
Not a great race, things didn't seem to go my way, but at least I finished. My first marathon as a runner is now behind me.
I had a decent first half but felt like it was too hard. I started feeling that the second half would be tough. And sure enough, it was. Had to walk a lot. My legs felt DEAD. It felt like I was running in a bounce house - I would exert X pounds of force but only get about X/2 pounds of effect. Very frustrating. My splits tell the story:
From the Runner Tracker e-mails:
00:46:19 @ 5M, Pace 9:15, Predicted 04:02:31
01:31:37 @ 10M, Pace 9:09, Predicted 03:59:54
02:00:02 @ Half, Pace 9:09, Predicted 03:59:54 (my watch showed a faster split)
02:59:36 @ 19M, Pace 9:27, Predicted 04:07:46
04:00:00 @ 24M, Pace 9:47, Predicted 04:16:30
04:22:28 @ Finish, Pace 10:00
Oh well, I'm not discouraged. Now I have a goal to get a monster PR in my next race by training well and training thoroughly. At least I'm not sore (knees hurt a bit but everything else feels great - I even played the dancing game with my daughter at Gatti-Land tonight).
