Since this is taper time, I am decreasing the volume, but I have tried to maintain some level of intensity. So this run was meant to be relatively speedy. I tried to make each mile faster than the previous. Splits: 8:29, 8:08, 7:48, 7:24, 6:58. Wow, that last mile was faster than I intended! That might be faster than any mile in my 5-mile race on Sunday! The good news is that I felt really good and the run didn't seem all that tough. I still feel as though I am doing better on shorter runs than on longer ones. While I hope this translates into a good race this weekend, I fear it will lead to a poor marathon the following weekend.
