Superior Trail 25K in Lutsen Minnesota. Rebel and I planned on taking the first half like a distance run since we didn't know what to expect for the climbing. We ended up running slower than distance run pace on the way out and just stayed in a long train until the first big climb around 3-4 miles. After that Fish, Rebel, and I ran together off the front of the big group with just one other guy in front of us. Kruse also caught back up on the downhill and ran most of the rest of the way out with us. At the turnaround we saw the leader was only ~30 seconds in front of us and we started to roll a little more like a race. We caught the leader at the bottom of the first big climb on the way back and after a few minutes of taking it easy we went around him and for the first time in the race I started to feel a solid burn in my legs. Rebel and I would lose Fish on the climbs but Fish could roll the flats and downhills and catch back up. On the last climb I ended up getting a gap on Rebel and just kept rolling for the last mile or so of rolling hills. I won the race less than a minute ahead of Rebel, who also rolled the last couple of miles, and Fish came in third. Heidi and Emma went 1-2 in the women's race which made for a pretty impressive day for Luther.

I think we could have gotten after the first half a little faster and been no more tired at the turnaround. Our splits were around 62 minutes out, 54 minutes back. It was a pretty sweet race, and would be fun to really get after it some year.
