Run leg of the HyVee Triathlon. This felt great. I got off the bike and my legs switched to running mode very quickly. I started to roll past people right away and settled into a solid pace. The crowd support throughout the run was awesome. It got me rolling into faster and faster gears throughout the race. It is also nice to be running this fast in the Age Group race because everyone watching notices how much faster you are running than everyone else. This got me a lot of extra cheering. The course finished with a decent short hill that I still felt really strong on and cruised all the way to the finish. I may have been trying to pace myself a little too much early on because I still felt really strong at the finish and feel like I should be able to run closer to 33 minutes. Still, it was pretty sweet to tie my track PR from junior year.

Overall this was the most fun I have had at a triathlon and I plan on coming back in the future. I won my age group and was 12th overall in the age group race with a 2:09:35. I would have like my overall time to be a little closer to 2:05 but still feel good about it. With some transition and bike work I think I can easily get under 2:05. The swimming gains will be a more difficult process. I also qualified for the the 5150 Championship race next year that is much more competitive. Kevin also qualified for that race with a 2:15 and 5th in his age group. Fun weekend that got me even more excited for some running races that are coming up.
