28:11.7 8k @ The Akrun Invitational. Since I was sick I got out fairly conservatively and just rolled a pretty steady effort most of the way. Started off quite buried, but passed a lot of people throughout. Moved on streng the last few miles, and got into a classic final kick, but he beat me by .2s. Kinda a hilly course, quite warm and humid, and talk of the course perhaps being short, but this time means nothing so idc. Felt ok during the race, just weak, but was dead afterwards. Laid on the ground for a solid 15 mins and then felt like I was gonna pass out walking back to the start. Took a solid hour to feel functioning again. In retrospect racing was a mistake. No cool down for aforementioned reasons.
