NJ Marathon

Notes

Chip time 3:35:25 8:14 per mile

Worked my ass off all winter (Pfitz 18/85) for this one and the payoff pitch was this morning. Knocked it out of the park.

7:27 PR from Baystate last fall. That's about 26 minutes worth of PRs in the last two marathons. Baystate last fall , while at first disappointing because I missed qualifying by 3 minutes, really, after more thought, made me believe that I could do it. Pfitz 18/55 worked well for that one, time to jack it up.

First half a little faster than the second but I'm happy with the consistency of the splits. Knew I was good for a first ever BQ if I didn't blow up. Stayed in front of the 3:35 pace group up until about 23. It wasn't a group at all, just two guys running. I actually was the pace group for about 2 miles. That helped because I had been sagging a little into the wind going north. Then I guess they wanted to finish because they took off about 1/2 minute pace faster than me. Just maintain said I, don't blow up and you get to run Boston.

Ran a good last mile.

Stayed fueled the whole time with my own Nuun tabs in water bottle. Powergel Banana flavored (no caffeine) at corral, 6miles, 12 miles,18 miles. Took an occasional sip of water at stops, but never slowed for them. I didn't walk a single step, which is also a first for me.

I have been thinking of this one since last fall. It's done. I nailed it. Fucking eh.
