Disappointing race. I could blame the weather, but really I just didn't have the guts this morning. First mile was fast because of the course and because I thought I had a sub-19:30 in me today. Mile 2 was slightly uphill for about the first third or half, and I both backed off the pace too much and failed to reel it back in enough on the subsequent downhill. So the failure of guts occurred in mile 2. Mile 3 felt less bad because of the comparatively easy second mile, but still I didn't have the guts to speed up much. There was a substantial hill just before the end of the race, so my kick only maintained my pace. Generally a fast course. Weather not super bad but far from ideal. Dew point was 70 and temperature 77 when I left before the race at about 6:15am.
