Odd race in many ways. Poorly organized: started late, gates blocking the course, people took wrong turns because the course was poorly marked, it was short. Plus the entire first half was downhill, with the first half mile steep; and then there was a turn-around and the second half was all uphill. Finally, competition was weak, so I was in front for over a mile after the initial steep half-mile downhill; but I was too weak on the uphill to keep the lead. Official time 19:22, but on this weird course that doesn't mean anything. I started out really fast and then slowed way down, really wimping out on the hill when it was obvious that I wasn't going to catch the two leaders and that nobody was catching me.
