The rest was on moderately hilly residential streets. It was clear after the first mile that I wouldn't be able to hold my goal pace (6:14) on those hills. Alex was a 17 year old cross country and track team captain who was killed in a car accident. So many of the runners were off season runners in high school and recent high school graduates. Winning time was 17:02. Almost everyone ahead of me was a teenager. Felt somewhat worn down and got a (caffeine?) headache afterwards.
