Notes

This run hurt, no lying. Named after the City of Madison project where they have a scale model of the solar System! It's pretty neat, since I rode my bike by it on the way to work (just Uranus though). Someday I'll run from the Sun to Pluto.

Feet were pretty beat up after this run. I might need to adjust the lacing on these shoes or just get used to it a little more. Also losing a pound or two will help - that's mainly a 50 hour workweek this week kicking it up. When I add in a 40 minute commute (both ways), that's a long-ish week. Not unreasonable, but it was also maybe a little higher stress than normal.

Run itself - 'sfine. Nothing too special; had a date/choco bar at the Sun at mile 9.5 ish, but that wasn't quite enough fuel. Should have grabbed one more thing for fueling on this one. First four miles were dead empty, was quite busy between 4 and 10 (no duh, it's downtown/campus), then pretty calm once I got into the Arboretum. I think Scott would like running in the Arboretum, it feels like a tiny Weedway with less hills. Started the bonk around mile 14 or 15, but managed to mostly hang on - the only 8+ mile was 19 and I'm going to guess that it's a little long per running around the house to get the 19 (I'm not mileage chasing, you're mileage chasing!)

Mile splits were between 7:49 (1), 7:33 (10), 8:02 (19).

6 to 13 were all 7:33-7:39, which augurs something at least. Lesson learned - one 90 cal bar is not enough fuel for 19. I can go no fuel up to about 16 (2 hours, which makes sense), but I should be aiming higher for fueling past that. I think the marathon fueling plan/goal is bring four gus and aim for one every 40 minutes. I could rely on the course having gus (I'm going to have the same kinds), but they are at 6.7, 13, 17, and 21 - I'm going to want the first one earlier (I think).

Illinois Marathon - I do think sub 3 is going to be a big, big challenge. I'm not too far off, but I'd really, really like to have more time running at 6:50 pace. 7:10 to 6:50 isn't that big of a jump, but 7:30-40 to 6:50 is -> 7:40 to 7:10 not so much. With a reasonable pack, I think this is doable, but I'm going to be hurting.

Anywho, it's been a quiet day here.

EDIT: Longest run since the Headlamp Hustlers 50K - this makes more sense as being pretty rough.
