The intervals also started off pretty good, alternating 2 laps on the track for recovery with the half mile intervals. I ran the first interval pretty conservatively with pretty even quarter mile splits -- 2:06+ for the first quarter and about 2:08 for the last quarter. I ran the 2nd interval slightly faster & again with pretty even quarter mile splits. I did feel a little winded at the end of the 2nd interval & I definitely began to feel the effects of the cold starting with the 3rd interval. While the time for the 3rd interval was where I wanted it, it was really uneven with the first quarter between 2:00 and 2:01 and the 2nd quarter a good 10 seconds slower. Plus at the end of the 3rd interval I felt really gassed. I took a little extra rest before interval 4 and interval 5, but they were both pretty much a repeat of what occurred in the third interval -- the first quarter of each was well within the target pace but I couldn't hold it in the 2nd quarter & slowed noticeably. I have no doubt had I physically been at 100% those last three intervals would have been much better and in line with my previous interval workouts.
