Much better run than Thursday. Felt good the entire 16 mile distance. First 10 miles were a very relaxed & easy effort. Had a bit of wind which affected the pace going west a little. The effort was very steady for all 10 miles although I did pick it up slightly for the final 3 miles of that portion. I was very satisfied with the fast finish portion of the run. The first two miles had a couple of hills so I kind of eased slowly into the race pace effort. But by the end of mile two and the beginning of mile 3 I definitely had dialed into a race pace effort and had no problem maintaining it all the way to the end of the run. In fact, I tried to simulate the end of the race by pushing the effort and pace during the final two miles, which I was not only able to do, but also to hold the faster pace comfortably to the end of the run. I was very encouraged in that I eased into race pace and then maintained it comfortably. I was also pleased with the fact that the pace picked up slowly, but steadily, during the fast finish portion until I finally chose to push it a bit in the final couple of miles.
