Notes

Pretty good tempo effort in perfect running weather. Felt really good at the start. Warm up mile was comfortable, relaxed & easy effort. Felt really good in the first mile of the tempo portion & as a result, probably went out a tad too fast, particularly since a good portion of the outward 1 1/2 miles had a moderate upslope. Took a short blow at the turnaround, as I did feel a little winded. But once I started back I was able to pick up the pace & effort to where it was during the first mile. The 3rd mile was slightly slower even though the effort remained hard & consistent & a good portion of the 6 second difference in pace had to do with crossing York Road during the 3rd mile. Was definitely tired at the end of the 3 mile tempo portion, but took a quick break to hydrate & then completed the cool down mile. The cool down mile felt really easy after the harder tempo effort. Overall I was encouraged by the tempo portion. I'm getting more comfortable running at or below the 2 hour half marathon pace, but I do need to monitor pace a little more closely earlier in the run, especially I feeling strong like I did this morning.
