Man, I needed this race.
Most even splits I have run in eons. 7:10 for first mile, 22:15 at the 5k. Felt steady the entire way, and (finally) did not have that "if I can just hang on to the finish" feeling. Legs felt oddly unraced afterward, with no stiffness or fatigue. Thanks to the massage?
Or more likely....Mileage works.
8th woman overall, 4th masters thanks to Barrow, Crisp, and Peacock all in attendance. 4 out of top 10 women were 48 or older. And that rocks. (Update: Actually placed as 3rd Masters...Barrow was 3rd overall).
