Start time 9:20 pm...pitch black, rain, unseen dogs and coyotes moving through farm fields, dim green of my headlamp on a dead cat at one point.. Awesome! This leg was on a rolling 2-lane. Wanted to keep pace a little slower than HM pace, which, as it turns out, was impossible not to do since running in the dark on unfamiliar country roads, hello, slows you down. Two guys near me at beginning of leg....lost them totally on the BIG hill.
