Jackass. So this was my first long pace run and I was all excited. I decided I would do it by feel and see how it goes. I also decided I didn't need to bring any water because I didn't think it was that hot. But it was pretty warm in the sun, especially by the end and I could have used some water for sure. But that's not the real issue.

The real issue is that I went way too fast and was pushing way too hard. This was not remotely marathon effort. The combination of the hills and heat and everything made it closer to race effort by the last couple miles. This was just rookie dumb. I think next week when I do this again I'll have to look at my watch and keep myself in the 8:10 range.

Those middle miles are just stupid. And the thing is I wasn't sure if I was even going sub 8. I mean I guess that's a good sign, but now I am really going to have to stretch and roll and who knows what this weekend's long run will feel like. bozo!
